This seems like insanity...is this legit? I'm in NJ and 2ok early...I'm going to call these guys tomorrow...

Is there anything else that should be done at 100k aside from valve adjustment as detailed above?

I live in NH and I can't find any acura or honda dealership that will touch the price Hamilton is offering. Is that 389.99 out the door or did you have taxes+fees?

No this deal is completely LEGIT! I did this back in June when i was at 88k. I added the tensioner belt, everything came out to 509 after tax I think.

If you search my username you can find my thread I wrote about. The facility is huge and staff are friendly. Everyone should hop on this deal if they can. I wish i knew they were going to extend the offer I would've did it a bit later lol. Oh well still a good deal.

Donald, did you have them replace the tensioner itself? Also, did you have your valves checked or are you just letting that one go?

DM I did the timing belt special and added the tensioner belt replacement which wasn't included for an extra $75 so the total was about $500ish after tax.

The valve adjustment I'm holding off on for now. I'm at 92k so maybe I will do it around 100k? I also have spark plugs also that I haven't installed yet. You know how much average labor cost is for the valve adjustment?

Anyway the special is still an awesome deal.

This is smart of them. Once you do this one or two times, you can do it in about a hour or 90 minutes or so... so they are probably splitting the shop time with you for a nice win:win.

I'm really not excited about the long drive to NJ. But 600mi round trip is worth the $600 savings to the closest local quote.

I'm at Open Road Acura right now and they have a "Timing Belt Special" advertised for $689.95. Its funny that another local-ish dealer has the same service for $300 less!

I have called every Acura dealership / Service department within a 150 mile radius of me and they have all basically laughed at me saying different things like...

"Thats not the service you need..."
"That doesn't include labor..."
"That is what parts cost alone..."
"That doesn't include the Timing Belt..."

I am thinking about making the trip which is 10 hours away just to save the money!

I'm just overdue now for this. However, this is the list of items that looking through the forum you want to have done when doing a timing belt/water pump.

If you take the Hamilton Labor you would be looking a $650. or so for the full job.

Comments?

14400-rca-a01 / belt, timing reference price 41.90
19200-rdv-j01 / water pump reference price 132.60
38920-rca-a03 / belt, compressor reference price 27.91
14520-RCA-A01 / Auto Tensioner reference price 88.65
14510-RCA-A01 / Adjuster reference price 78.79
14550-RCA-A01 / Idler Pulley reference price 33.80
19301-P8E-A10 / Thermostat Assy 25.89
19305-PR7-A00 / Thermostat Rubber Mounting 2.59

to bad I am not closer...

I calculated what the trip would cost - ~$ 750 Roundtrip including staying a night there.

I can get a auto shop (non dealer) here (if i buy the parts) do it for $315

The ad specifically states the $389.98 timing belt special is "For Hondas Only".

OP was your email stating the very same thing?

I would hate to make a long drive only to learn that the very special price would not be applied to our TLs.

I spoke with Chris the service advisor at Hamilton Honda yesterday and he confirmed the same timing belt special price would apply to Acura TLs. Also cited $236 for plugs and $315 for valve adjustment. Told him I would wait on those jobs and he agreed. Just need to schedule in advance as it is about a 5.5 hour job.

He did say the price was good to the end of the month and that they have to wait for approval to extend another month as it seems they have been doing for a while.

They are an hour or so from where I live in NE NJ but well worth the trip.

Yup, TLs are included. I used the same special back in June. Burned a day of my family's east coast vacation (started from Colorado) to get it done at that price! With $75 tensioner and tax it was $497 total. You can get a loaner if schedule far enough in advance. Best deal in the entire USA. Just check their website to make sure the special is still going (which hasn't been a problem so far).

For those waiting for my feedback about Hamilton; In short....they are awesome.

I had scheduled my 105k service with Nicole several weeks ago. She was more than happy to set me up with a loaner car and offered free services such as an oil change (syn blend) and free car detailing. The free oil change I declined, since I'm a bit picky about what oil my car enjoys, but I was accepted the free detailing.

I left the house 6am, didn't arrive til around 12:45pm. I showed up, my Service Advisor was Sal. They processed info quickly and I was able to get out of there in no time with a loaner '10 Accord EX. The job took approx 3.5 hours. Very pleased with the service, I asked for the tensioner to be replaced regardless of the condition, they replaced it, charged me for the part only. Awesome folks working in the Service Dept at Hamilton.

Highly Recommend Hamilton Honda! Paid under $500 total for the entire service incl. taxes.

For those of you not near Hamilton, call around to your local Honda dealers and see what they offer. You might find a deal. I did:

My local Honda dealer (the only one in town, no Acura dealer in the whole state) quoted me $700 for TB, water pump, tensioner AND valve adjustment....

Just called Hamilton Honda. Spoke to Ceil in the service dept.

$389.99 is LEGIT. $100 more for the hydraulic tensioner which Tony, the head mechanic at Acura of Manhattan sternly advised replacing when the time comes. Ceil did admit they find most of those leaking so it typically gets added to the job. When I asked for a quote on valve adjustment, she asked why. I told her I thought they're supposed to be done at 105K, to which she responded "It's $280, And Only If The ValVes Are Making Noise, But Not All Those Need Cars Need It" Proof positive these folks are on the level.

As for the special, she said it expires the end of the year as far as she knows. And that only yesterday, a TL owner drove down from New Hampshire early in the morning to have it done then drove back home last night.

They even offered me a free oil and filter change just for coming down!

DONE DEAL !!!

That "TL owner" from New Hampshire was me . 694 miles round-trip! Evidently I took the title for driving the farthest to get my service done at Hamilton Honda.

I'm really impressed with this special; no dealership will touch it or try to beat it .

Be sure to schedule a loaner car to guarantee it being available during the service. Nicole was happy to set one up for my service appointment. Hope everyone who pounces on this deal have an equally positive experience!

I had to call them again today and say thank you. The journey home was smooth and all is well!

Odo was at 107k miles before my trip and I could just begin to hear the belts whining momentarily, particularly during cold starts. Nothing unusually loud but just a slight whine. After the service, the car purrs quite nicely as she always does minus the belt whine.
