Tilting mirrors - why do I have to pick?

I have had my TL for like 3 months now and really like (and have gotten used to) the mirror tilt down function.

Never had it before, and now (of course) will always want it in future cars (isn't it always like that?)

My question is - why do I have to pick which mirror? I park in different places on different days. Sometimes I want passenger tilt down, and sometimes I want driver. Why can't BOTH ALWAYS tilt down when shifting in reverse? (or, of course, leaving the switch in the mirror would tilt neither down)

What can't I have both? Why did Acura make it so you have to choose? Don't other lux cars who have tilting mirrors let BOTH tilt down when you switch to reverse?

If I remember reading correcting, the 2002 and 2003 TL (I know you guys will correct me if I am wrong) had a passenger only tilt down.

If Acura decided that sometimes a driver tilt down would be useful, why not have them both tilt down.

And final question: how hard would the re-wiring be?

THANKS!!!

I think on MDX both the mirror tilt. Can somebody confirm this? And if this happens on MDX, rewiring on TL can be possible I think.

Because when you back into a spot it can't hurt to glance into the street side mirror to check for cars coming up to you.

A lot of people don't let others prak and go right past- right at the point you are about to turn out to pull in.

It's good to check behind you.

I don't always want the mirror to tilt down when I put the car into reverse. I much prefer to be able to control it. I only want tilt down side mirrors when parallel parking, when I'm parking in a regular spot, I want the mirrors to stay in their usual position and not tilt.

In the 03 MDX the passenger side mirror is the only one that can tilt. I am torn on it's usefulness as it is great for parking in parking spots but not very uselful for backing into my garage where I am more worried about items hanging on the walls but atleast I can control it. It's all about choice....

In the Mercedes and Lexus cars you have to pick which side goes down.
I guess they figure you want only the side you are closer to the curb to go down so that way you can use the other mirror to
look behind you. - like mentioned in a previous post.

TZVECL,

In the 02 TL, both mirrors tilted down when you back up. Someone thought that one mirror at a time was an improvement. I liked both for backing out of my driveway. Oh well.
