Question Thoughts on Half Nose Hood

Should I get a half nose mask? What about moisture? Do I really have to take it off everytime it gets wet? I live in MD and of course it will get wet (LOL). What are some of your experiences? Is it more trouble that it is worth? Never had one before but pick up my new ABP w/Navi tomorrow!!

I'm in the same boat, I'm toying with the idea of a half nose, but what really makes me think that a full nose would be better is that 99% of the bugs/ chips/ stuff on the car already is on the front bumper and not on the hood....

As someone who use to owned car bra, I can tell you that they are more trouble then they are worth.

You need to remove it when it rains. Everytime you was the car you have to remove it and rinse it good on the side that rest against the paint to get rid of road and sand dust that will slowly sand down your paint surface. Then you need to let it dry before you re-install it.

Get the Paint Protection Film (AKA Clear Bra) as this is permanent installation, do not need to remove it when it rains and once installed, no dust will get between it and the paint and you maintain it exactly like your car's paint by washing it and applying a good wax to it's surface.

The Downside of a Clear Bra or 3M Paint Protection Film is that it is more expensive then the mask but then again will offer permanent protection against stone chip.

Also, the Paint Protection Film is almost invisible when properly installed.

Search the forums here for Paint Protection Film (PPF) or google the web for 3M Paint Protection Film.

You can have the whole hood covered in one piece and the front fascia/bumper and the top of both front fenders and do not forget the side mirrors.

Best regards from Montreal, Canada

I agree with the other posters. Forget about a cloth bra as it's too much trouble to use. Go for the clear bra. If you can, have it installed BEFORE you pick up the car. It costs some money, typically several hundred dollars, but at least your front bumper and the front half of your hood will thank you. In addition, it's essentially maintenance free other than your washing it with the rest of the car.

HTH.

Here's a thread very similar to yours and the consensus is pretty much the same. Get Paint Protection Film (PPF), a very sound investment for a new vehicle. You can't go wrong with this product and a lot of the folks here have em. Do a search on clear bra.
