For those who have a metal clicking noise in the trunk area-here is the FIX!!

http://www.acura-tl.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86155

There have been quite a few threads about the annoying metal clicking noise around the trunk. Some suggested that it is coming from the center seatbelt retractor. I actually removed the black foam covers deep inside the trunk to see if there is something I can do. However, I did not find anything that could create this noise.

Then, I realized that a black rubber tubing is located right below the trunk lid which connects to the trunk opener assembly. An hour ago, I removed the black foam under the trunk lid to expose that wire. This wire clings onto the metal trunk lid with several black plastic clips that wraps around the wire. Guess what. None of them had a tight fit around the holes on the metal frame. Those plastic clips along with the tubing were banging against the metal frame creating tha annoying noise (thanks to those geniuses in Ohio)! Can you believe it?

It is really easy to expose the clips and wire from the trunk lid (you do not need to completey remove the black foam cover). You just need to remove several plastic clips to expose those clips and wire. You will need a flash light though. I used some self-adhesive foam tapes to prevent those clips and wire rattling. This was a temporary fix as I ran out of the tape. But, the rattling noise is completey gone!!! I am not quite sure what the permanent fix is going to be. I am thinking about using those thin plastic wires (with tiny gears) that you can use to close plastic bags, etc.

I understand that this may not solve your particular problems, but I tried to have this fixed by two different dealers-both of them said "CANNOT DUPLICATE THE CUSTOMER'S COMPLAINT" I hope this will eliminate this annoying problem that some of us have! I just wanted to share this fix with you.

"Goop" is a great sound deadening material in an application such as this (if I read your description correctly).

Is it possible for anyone to post some pictures of where the problem is and what the fix looks like? This would be a useful addition for the Garage section.
