Things you wish the TL had

Keep Right Except to Pass
- Passenger seat that is heated on the back, not just the butt (I've only ridden in the passenger seat once, though, so it doesn't affect me much)
- Better-shaped glove compartment so that the owner's manual fits inside
- Increase the centre shelf size slightly so that DVD-Audio cases fit inside
- Do NOT get rid of the tape player
- SACD compatibility on the stereo as well as DVD-A
- Do NOT add MP3 capability (MP3s sound like crap)
- Widen the back portion of the trunk slightly (i.e., the part closer to the back seat) to make it easier to fit multiple golf bags in there with oversized drivers
- Plastic clip on the left side of the windshield for holding a parking pass or the like. My mother's Volvo has this and I've always liked it. My parking pass for the office is too small to be seen if I hang it from the rearview, so I have it stuck down the bottom of the windshield. The picture below is not hers (it's from Wikipedia), but you can see the plastic clip on the windshield.

Since I've had mine about 2 weeks now, I'll chip in my 2 cents worth as I compare it to the Lincoln's I've owned.
It needs climate controlled seats. (with a/c) It really does.
It needs a better a/c system. It may work great in most parts of the country, but it takes a while to get working well here.
Automatic headlights. Strange omission.
An outside temp gauge that actually works at all temps. Stupid omission.
XM NavTraffic. Even more stupid omission! If you have XM with navi, WHY NOT NAVTRAFFIC??
Some of these might drive the price up too much for the market they are targeting. I can see that. But some of them are not much more than programming work. i.e. the temp gauge and navtraffic. The module for navtraffic is not much more money than one without. That omission drives me nuts! If you've ever had it...you'll know what I mean. It just flat works.

By the way, I was reading at the first of this thread (it's a year old) that folks wished it had a tire pressure monitor. Was that something they recently added? I do like that in mine...but I would have added one more thing to it...I would have added the spare tire to it. That's the one that NEVER seems to get checked...

The one thing that I wish the TL had - at least in my area which is Toronto ON is ... a decent dealer service network. After 2 service visits I've already written off my selling dealer for service and I haven't heard good reports of other area dealers. If this was coming from one person I'd discount it but from what I've read pretty much all the people in my area are searching for a good TL dealer for service. The only one that sounds decent is a 40 mile drive each way.
This is too bad IMHO as I love my TL and the sales experience I had with the dealer was great, however, if the dealer network can't support the car from an after sales service prospective I just might have to go back to BMW and pay a little extra for the car but get it back in after sales service.
Again ... this is only my spin on the after sales support issues in my area. YMMV .

Anyway, I bought my TL in August 2004 and there was no such thing as NavTraffic yet.
(2) You may be correct about NavTraffic in 2004...but this is an 06. There is no excuse for not having NavTraffic. I truly hope they find a way to let us upgrade to that. I have it in my wife's Aviator. Believe me...in a city this size, it can be a life saver. It finds all trouble spots and even monitors traffic flow. If you look at the screen and one side of the freeway is slow and the other is flowing normally, it will flash one side green and the other yellow or red to indicate which side is slow...and even display the average speed in the congested lane. If it's on your calculated route, it will offer to reroute you around it automatically. Believe me...it's not a gimmick. All you need is some programming to the Nav unit and an XM module for both XM radio and NavTraffic. Maybe someday....

Oh yea....one more thing I'd like to see. Adjustable pedals. If anyone has ever driven a Ford/Lincoln product with them, you'll know what I mean. They can really make the difference in the way you fit the cockpit. They are also tied to the seat memory. Nice feature.
But now I'm getting to the point where the car is going to cost a ton more...and who wants that??

What I want!!!
Wish it had:
- auto on/off lights (unacceptable that it doesn't)
- doors that don't close on you trying to get out
- a better way to view MPG, etc without having to actually
having to push the button when you get into the car everytime!
- clean I-Pod integration

After comparing with my wife's Maxima SL:
Auto-dimming side mirrors
Auto on/off headlights
Driver's seat moves back when door opens
Compass in rear-view mirror
MPG read-out separate from trip computer
12V power outlet on inside of passenger footwell
Exterior cornering lights that come on when turn signal is turned on
