They put 07 transmission in my 06 5AT?

*Okay so I ALREADY SEARCHED google as there's always a dick saying... nvm anyways* After the pennzoil situation, I had to get my tranny fixed so I took it to a Honda Acura trans specialist. He ended up putting all new components on a 07 TL auto trans that he already had ready and put it on my car. (BTW I tried to get AV6 and it just didnt work out for multiple reasons). The car runs well for the most part, its been about 2 days, but it feels wayy different in terms of gear ratios, torque, and shift points/smoothness etc. Is it all in my head b/c its "new"? My questions are what are the differences between the 06 and 07 trans and I read somewhere that an 07 wouldnt fit on an 06? Feel free to say almost whatever

The thing is, if your new transmission is from a 2007 vintage car, it definitely came from an Accord and not a TL. Why? The 2007 and 2008 transmissions have a different mount to the engine and they are not interchangeable.

Not sure what a 2007 vintage car is but thats what I was told(on the forums) about the mounting points. But the technician said it was only the 08 with different mounts and he also said multiple times that the AV6 was not superior in any way. Im torn

Absolute, non-negotiable fact, for the Accord, the 2008 was different, for the TL both the 2007 and 2008 were different. Long story short, if you got a transmission from a 2007, then you got an AV6 transmission.

why arguing with him? let OP believe whatever his mechanic told him and may be the mechanic will recommend snake oil next.

I'm not arguing with anyone lol I want to hear what they have to say so I can deduce for myself. I'm just saying what the specialist said and I'm confused.

The 07-08 TL transmission definitely doesn't bolt up to the 04-06 TL's.

Is there any way I can tell what trans I have? Besides the driving feel of it.

I'm sure the transmission housing has some form of a model number and other identifying information on it; per the various purveyors of OEM Honda/Acura parts I see the following (I strongly suspect you'll find the 21210-RAY-306 markings on your transmission):
  • Part Number: 21210-RDH-000 -- Description: 2007-2008 Acura TL (base 3.2 model) Transmission Case
  • Part Number: 21210-RDG-315 -- Description: 2004-2006 Acura TL (base 3.2 model) Transmission Case
  • Part Number: 21210-RAY-306 -- Description: 2006-2007 Honda Accord Sedan Transmission Case

Some mechanics are probably just confused or misinformed.

I picked up a passenger side Type-S headlight that was listed as "06 TL headlights" for $35 last year

So lets lay down some facts.
As stated multiple times already, the 07/08 TL transmission does not even bolt up to a 2004-2006.
Your mechanic said he DID NOT use an Accord V6 transmission.
This leaves me to think that the donor transmission he bought to rebuild was an 04-06 mislabeled as an 07 by the junk yard or wherever he got it from.

End of my analysis.

If you REALLY do want to find out, check if your new transmission has 3 pressure switches or 2.

Just looking at the pictures in that thread I can see that the casing looks different from 04-06 and 07/08, so you may just get away with removing your driver side wheel to find out.

Thank you. Yes the conclusion is either i have an AV6 or the trans is an 06. Ill prolly just check the serial number as that may be easier
