Thank you all!

I was dead set on buying the TL until I sat down and I calculated all my finances and realized it's impossible for me to finance even a used one. I don't want to sacrifice all my worldy possessions for a freakin car! However I still needed a new car. So I found a great deal and pickin it up tomorrow! It's a black 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5SE with all luxury amenities except for leather. It has only 8.3k miles on it and is practically brand new. Even smells new! All that for $19,985. I think it's a steal so I jumped right on it!

So I would like to thank all of you TLers for your info and hopefully I will be able to afford this car after college or grad school.

There is only one last favor I would like to ask if it is not a problem. I was told this car hasn't been in any accidents but just to be on the safe side I would like to see what Carfax says aboout this car. If it ain't a problem, could someone send me the carfax report on it. Here's the VIN: 1N4BL11D35C331013 Thank you all and happy New Year!

You are welcome and sorry it didnt work out on the TL. That being said...I sincerely doubt you are going to find somebody that is going to buy a carfax report for you on your car? It would be one thing if they had an unlimited subscription going.....but most of the people that find this site either are deep in thought buying a car (and not likely to skip across this thread) or already have one and wouldnt have an active subscription.

Anyway...good luck with the education and your new Nissan! We look forward to your return after you get your new TL....and by all means dont be a stranger...!

Note....if you want to really know if it has been in any accidents...just take it by ANY autobody shop. Any qualified body tech should be able to tell within a few minutes of looking at various things....typical overspray spots....panel fit, ect.

The wife and I test drove a 3.5 altima a few years ago.
I remember it having a harsh noisy ride, but plenty of room inside, big trunk,
and it was not expensive.
I think the reliability should be good.

Good luck with it.

All cars are a waste of money, if you have extra money, you can waste some on a car if you are into them, but its always dumb.
I like getting expensive used cars, they dont cost much, and I do my own work, so fixing them is cheap.
You know you can get a 3 year old Jaguar S type with under 20,000 miles on it for less than your altima?
Thats with the V8 and all the options...
Crazy...

I think you made a good decision. Now you have yourself a nice reliable car to have at college.

Hopefully somebody here has a Carfax subscription and can run that VIN for you. I've always found people with subscriptions on the various car forums that were willing to run a full report for me. If you don't find anything I do suggest you spend the $19 and run one yourself.

Well, I figure this is a good time to stop my silent roaming on Acurazine, and actually make a useful contribution. I just so happen to have an active subscription to Carfax. The report on that Altima is all clear. If you would like me to, I can email the report to you in PDF format. Let me know. Enjoy your new car.

You may want to post your carfax request in the CarTalk forum. I have a thread running here: https://acurazine.com/forums/car-talk-5/carfax-requests-here-326733/

Post in there and when I get a chance in the next day or so I will run the report for you using my subscription.

If it's a dealer, ask them to provide it. It's not uncommon for them to have carfax accounts and it's a small favor to ask - very standard to provide a buyer.

It's nice to read a post about someone young that can't afford the TL (no pun intended!). I can relate to that and say: "Been there, done that". I am sure when you get out of school and get a job then your time will come. I salute you bro on your decision....
