uhh does anyone just use a honda dealer for service/maintenance? there is a honda dealer like 2 blocks from my house and the acura dealer is about 8 miles away in bad la traffic.

when i walked into the honda dealer one of the saleman said yes, they would service an acura. just wondering if anyone here knows whether it makes a difference or not...tia.

Its not about distance for me, the two are one and the same. The Acura service department is in one building and the Honda service is in the other. But I know the service department on the Honda side, as I used them when I had my Prelude. No issue's and I think it saves a little over the "Acura" service price. So I see no reason why you shouldn't take it to the Honda dealer, its basiclly an Accord any way.

But yes you can take it the Honda service.

Agreed- I use the local dealer near where I live- I know I've saved a lot of $$$ by not taking the car to Acura depsite the 'Premium Customer Care' they claim to offer.

Yeah all you get for that Acura service is some cola in the fridge and some snacks set out. But you do get a free car wash with Acura (a $7.80 savings as noted on my reciepts)..

Wow. My dealer has a state of the art brushless, touchless car wash. I have no problems letting him wash it.

My Honda dealer has a full car wash included. I decline due to the car being black. But my wife loves it with her MDX. She will take it in just ot get it washed for free!! It helps that I have known the service managers there for 6 + years.

Probably a load of crap, but my dealer said that Acura service centers are certified to work on Hondas, but not vice-versa.

I got free oil changes for the life of the car at Acura of Riverside, so I'll probably bring it there for the most part.

OK, I just spoke with the service dept. at Acura for a quote to get an oil change:
$30 (with me supplying the oil and filter)

At Honda (where I had my 00TL serviced for years): $15 for the same service

I guess I'm going to Honda. The Honda dealer is even closer to my home.

So does mine, but they still use towls to dry off the excess water after the blower

Our local Honda dealer has a great price for oil changes. A ton of this business gets pulled by the quick lubes so they are also jumping on the less than 30 min oil change bandwagon.

Local Honda dealer charges 20 bucks for oil change and includes wash and vac.

Acura dealers want 30 for the same thing. Both have TV to watch and I usually just steal all their brochures.

personally, i rather service the vehicle myself. I just don't trust anyone else working on my vehicle; i've seen too many "serviced" vehicle with less then adequate work.
oil change, tranny flush, rad flush, valve adjust is second nature once u do it a few times. I enjoy taking a sunday off for my car every 1/2 yr.

if this were true, does that void any of the warranty?

Honestly, I think he was just trying to get me to go to their service center. He wasn't the brightest bulb in the chandelier.
