Question Switchblade Key question

lost my key fob a whiles back, have been using my key anytime i need to unlock, lock, trunk (annoying) ,, i wound up ordering a key fob online but i can't get it programmed to my car for some reason, directions are really confusing on how to program,, anywho,, i've been thinking about the switchblade key fob all in one idea for a while...

anyone who wound up getting one,, do you or did you have any problems ever since you got it? i know the key would have to get cut obviously, is the programming difficult? thanks

Unless there are locksmiths around you who do it, the only thing I can suggest is going to the stealership to get it programmed.

i've had my switchblade key for almost a year now with no problems. After the dealer cut it for me, programming takes 30 sec's at the most. very simple.

yes that is what i'm talkin about,, programming the remote function, my car won't let me use bluetooth or voice commands because there is no key fob paired to the car

and how much would the dealership charge me to program the key itself? when i had a spare key made by tripple A,, he made the key, had his own chip, programmed, and charged me 200 bucks,, i was like holy shit why so much?? it's just what they charged he told me...

I dont remember exactly because of how long ago it was. Im thinking somewhere around $40-$60 bucks.

*also if you get this done be sure to bring every key that goes to this car. When i got mine programmed I had to go home and get my extra keys b/c once they program 1 key, they have to do every key over again or they wont work anymore.

im not sure why your car wont allow you to use bluetooth or voice commands. The only time the remote matters is for presets like seats, mirrors, and climate. If youre only using a key to open the door it should still say driver1 or driver2 based on which remote was used last, at least thats what mine does.

I'll go look at my reciepts and see exactly how much i paid, im pretty sure it wasnt $200

I've seen my Bluetooth not work because it was not paired to a phone, but a fob?? Never heard of that. However, this might help you get your fob paired up.

As per Ron A (Admin):

PROGRAMMING THE REMOTE TRANSMITTER (KEYFOB)

Storing transmitter codes.
The codes of up to three transmitters can be stored into the keyless receiver unit memory. (If a fourth code is stored, the code which was first input will be erased.)

NOTE: It is important to maintain the time limits between the steps. Make sure the doors, the hood and the trunk lid are closed.

1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II)

2. Within 1 to 4 seconds, press the transmitter lock or unlock button with the transmitter aimed at the keyless receiver unit behind the driver’s side of the dashboard.

3. Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch OFF.

4. Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch ON (II).

5. Within 1 to 4 seconds, press the transmitter lock or unlock button with the transmitter aimed at the keyless receiver unit behind the driver’s side of the dashboard.

6. Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch OFF.

7. Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch ON (II).

8. Within 1 to 4 seconds, press the transmitter lock or unlock button with the transmitter aimed at the keyless receiver unit behind the driver’s side of the dashboard.

9. Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch OFF.

10. Within 1 to 4 seconds, turn the ignition switch ON (II).

11. Within 1 to 4 seconds, press the transmitter lock or unlock button with the transmitter aimed at the keyless receiver unit behind the driver’s side of the dashboard.

12. Confirm you can hear the sound of the door lock actuators within 1 to 4 seconds, then push the transmitter lock or unlock button again, or the code will not be stored.

13. Within 10 seconds, aim the transmitter (up to two additional ones) whose codes you want to store in the keyless receiver, and press the transmitter lock or unlock buttons. Confirm that you can hear the sound of the door lock actuators after each transmitter code is stored.

14. Turn the ignition switch OFF, and remove the key.

15. Confirm proper operation with the transmitters.

NOTE: Once the programming mode is entered, the remote button must be pressed a second time. If the button is not pressed, or if the ignition switch is turned OFF, the programming for all remotes will be cancelled.

i don't have the switchblade key, i just want to know if the OEM looking Key fob for an 04 is the right one i have. you know the original one that came with your 04 it's grey and old looking somewhat

does anyone have their original key fob from an 04-06 TL than can post there FCC ID number please thanks... i bought the memory 2 one,, because in my car it says on the door,, Memory 1 and Memory 2 so tha's what i ordered but can't get it to work why are the simplest things the hardest, and the hardest things easiest to do sometimes?
