Sunroof shade

Do you find the open sunroof shade slides forward on an aggressive stop? My '02 TL the shade seems to clip/lock open in place where the '04 does not. Is it supposed to lock in place as the older models did?

Yes, has happened to me several times. A little irritating but no big deal. My last car (SHO) did the same thing. I wasn't aware that earlier Acura's could lock it in place. Sounds like a good idea. I'm surprised they dropped it. Probably a way to cut out a few cents.

Actually, the 04TL sunshade is an improvement. It is much easier to open and close. My 01 took too much effort and dealer couldn't improve it any.

Yes, mine does the same. Would have expected better, but no big deal. I'd rather they cut corners on that than the engine, suspension, and sound system!

I picked mine up yesterday and this is the only problem I have. (And if it's the only one at all, I'm GRATEFUL.)

Anyone come up or think up a fix? I thought of putting some kind of tiny rubber foot on the shade, but then when I opened the moonroof I saw the shade gets swallowed (which is awesome.) Not sure if a foot would help or hinder now.

Maybe something along the sides to add a little friction that wouldn't interrupt the "pull all the way back" feature?

Congrats - you are gonna love it. Yeah, if that is the only prob. its easy enough to live with. Guess we gotta stop slamming on the brakes or follow a good brake slam with a mashing of the gas to send it back into its proper place!

Ooh! I hadn't thought of that! I think that'll will resolve the issue nicely.

I surprised that there hasn't been more uproar over this. In the aggressive city driving that I do, this shade sliding is a weekly issue. In my 94 Civic and 01 MDX, there is a notch in the rails to keep the shade shut and its not difficult to close the shade. Why wouldn't they put that same design into the TL. May seem petty to some, but its a bit embarrassing when you've got someone in your car and that happens. This seems like one of those stupid things that you expect from am '80s GM car.

Mine doesn't move either.

You guys gotta stop racing up to a red light and slamming the brakes.

It only happens when the granny's pull out in the left hand lane on RT 287!! Granny's keep to the right - keep my shade open!!

2nd generation clips/locks in place. .......well, had to give up something to get that cool trunk handle in the 3rd generation.

Just thought about this but in an accident situation I'd rather have it closed. And now under emergency braking it does close..sortof
