Suggestions needed--is these normal

My 05 TL has a big shock when shifting to reverse gear. It also has the jerky-shocky feel when shifting gears from 1-2, 2-3 at low RPMs.

Guys, please let me know if this is normal. I had an 03, which is very smooth, and I can't feel anything when shifting to reverse, or during tranny auto shifting.

Are these symptons all because of bad tranny mount? or there could be something else? I also have the famous 1500RPM vibration.

Thanks.....

See a dealer - this doesn't sound normal.

How many miles do you have ? My 04 TL had a thudding sound when put into reverse and also a slight jerk from 1-2 and 2-3 (Exactly what you are mentioning) but this was in the first 1000 ~ 1500 miles... this used to bug the hell out of me...but I took it to the dealer and he said its normal in the break-in period and made me test drive 2 other TL's and they were similar...but this sound went away, I now have 14K and my tranny is a LOT smoother then before...

the only explanation I have is that some trannys can be rough in the beginning. I would still recommend you to take it to the dealer and get it checked out.

ohh no is it the AT tranny problems from the 2nd gen??? hehehe j/k there hasn't really been any reported problems for the 3rd gen so it should be something different. take it into the dealer and have them look at it.

I can't say for sure what causes this problem. Mine does the same thing but only through the first couple of shift cycles then its fine. If I had to venture a guess I would say it is fluid related. Perhaps it takes a cycle or two to warm the fluid up to an effective operating temperature. In any event, I'm only going to worry about it if it becomes significantly worse.

I noticed in my TL 05 Navi with about 700 miles on the car that if I reduce speed just as the transmission is getting ready to change gears, I get a hard shift.

If I maintain or continue to accelerate (not hard acceleration; flooring the pedal) that the transmission shifts smoothly.

Just my observation so far.
