Smile Struggling: 08 TL or TL-S

I am debating which car i should get. I got some prices from the dealer today.

2008 TL with navi w/ financing = $33,900, w/o financing pay it all = $31,700

and if TL Type S, just tag on 2K extra with both prices.

Is that a great price offer from them? You think the price can be better? I originally was looking for a 09 TSX, but once realized the price is 32K with tech package while only 31K for TL, it just make sense to get a one higher model.

Any advice?

go for the tl-s, my price was $32,782 cash or $34,232 finance. I went with 34k with .09% financing.

Type S, nothing to regret. Saving money for mods is bs. Buy the Type S, mod the Type S.

It is SO worth it to get the Type S than the regular for the stuff you are getting, which is why i got my 08 WDP TL-S. The 2000 more you are paying for = brembo brakes, Navi, Back up camera, beefed up seats, way better looking rims, more cosmetic, quad exhausts.

I just test drove them both last night and there is no way I would buy the regular TL, it just wouldn't make sense. Just look at all the extra features of the type-s, it it eliminates thousands of dollars worth of mods.

everything everyone else is saying as well as the fact that the Type-S is going to have a much better resale value down the road. If the type-s is even a consideration for you then get it no doubt. Oh and you should be able to get them to lower the price.

I think it's all about you. Personally I don't like the type-s. Don't like the rims, don't like the red gauges, don't like the way the seats look (feel great though), the extra 30hp is nice but 'make-up-able', the suspension you can always go aspec, the body kit you can go aspec, the camera is nice, the quad exhaust is nice too...

But then again, only 2k difference...

I also just picked up a 08 WDP TL-S $32,238 before tax, title and tags. I was trading up from a 04 TSX. When I saw the 09 TSX w/tech kit at 32K it was a no brainer.
TL-S over TL also for the extra HP.
Good luck.......

thx for all the opinion, i havent test drive any car yet. Hopefully will do so later on this weekend.

I personally hope they can lower the price i bit more, maybe 34K type S financing. I'm going to try different branch today n see if they will come up w/ a diff. amount.

I think the answer lies in the fact that you can't get the Base TL in 6MT...

So Type S it is!

I came from an '05 TL 6-spd to the '07 TL-S 6-spd. It was actually worth the extra $8,500 to upgrade (including getting a 2 year newer car). The cars are totally different animals. The base TL just feels a little sporty, but the TL-S actually has an edge to it. It has a little bit of exhaust growl, great torque, tight steering and stand-out looks.

No question, TL-S for sure. Especially since they likely won't launch the '09 with a type-S model.

Type-s = more power, better handling, more toys, less gas mileage for more money.
You have to determine what is best for you. Base TL w/Nav is a fine car for the money.
The deal they are offering is a few thousand to high for either car today.

I don't like certain aspects of the way the Type-S looks, but to me the answer is obvious: The Type-S is now the only way to get a 6MT, so the Type-S is the only rational choice.

Go with the TSX, the tl no matter type s or navi is going to die in resale when the 09's come out, also you should never buy the last model run of any car!

Nope... people will be missing the touch-screen of our 3G Navis...

Instead they will be using that retarded scroll wheel...another reason I hated my infiniti navi.

Nothing wrong with the last model run of many cars. I had the last great 95 Legend coupe, and now have the 03 CLS 6MT coupe. No regrets with either one, but also these cars were not replaced with a new model. Acura is afraid of coupes.
