starnge design on passenger dash-06 TL

I have this strange design, sort of like a sideways capital letter I that shows up on my passneger dash. It is an 06 TL with Navi Black on Black. When I apply leather protector, it is hardly detectable. but once that wears off and the sun hits it just right, it is there and easy to see. Anyone else have this?

Thanks

It's probably the airbag...

Definitely the thin parts that are broken open for deployment of the airbag.

It is the depression where the air bag deploys through the dash. I have an 06 and have the same depression/discoloration that appeared recently.

I also have this. Is this a warranty issue that Acura should fix? Seems pretty strange, I have never heard of this happening in ANY car before?

Yeah but a lot of cars have that ugly rectangular airbag cover- that's not exactly stealth.

It's for the airbag.

Has anyone seen the same thing on their steering wheel?

It's not a warranty issue. Just apply protectant to the dash and it is fine. 303 works good. search the forum for 'dash fade' or look in the garage.

Mine got real bad and I tried my Lexol first, which helped a lot, but then I got the 303 Protectant and it is completely gone, but I have to reapply every month or two.

Ron,

Does the 303 change the finish of the dash at all? Does it become reflective at all? I just like the matte looking finish of the dash when new and do not want to shine it up at all.

It's funny you say that. I noticed 2 small marks on my steering wheel just the other day but I have not noticed the mark on my passengers dash.

Can you use the 303 on every surface inside the car? I have been using the little black bottle that Honda/Acura sell and it does work great but I have been contemplating buying the 303.

Just recently, the past week or so i noticed a small line forming through my steering wheel - to the right center. It's the size of 3 finger nails and the thickness is about the size of this ofnt being used.

Is there a way to remove it?

Thanks for all of the advice. I contacted my dealer and they claim to have something they "treat" the dash with thast works. They claim you can not buy it. has anyone had the dealer apply this yet? I have tried Lexol and it works, but when you put the sun shade up, it leaves white scrape marks.

Your dealership may be referencing the Service News of 12/2005 on page 2 called Dashboard Looks Faded or Blotchy.
