Sticky Tape at Base of Shifter

Any here notice some underlying sticky tape coming out at the front of the base of the shifter? It looks like something that sticks the base plate to the center with some black velcro or something.

Yep, just pop that trim piece out (carefully) and adjust it.

Pretty simple.

Same thing happened on my front grille chrome trim.

Poor quality control in Ohio. I've seen this on brand new cars right off the truck.
