Starting to get a bit discouraged in my search for an '07-'08 TL-S.......

Our carmax does not negotiate. I was ready to buy one they had when we were looking, but it was $2500 over kbb retail. I told them I didn't want to be over the kbb price and I had cash. They said they won't negotiate at all due to the money they put into cars before selling.
But it worked out because a week later we found one with 30k less miles for $5k cheaper from a private seller.

Question for you man.....was the car advertised for that price or did you negotiate?
The one I made an appointment to see has 111k miles and asking is $18k.
I was hoping to negotiate, but if I can't then there is no point in going because I am not paying $18k for a car w/ $111k miles.

As everyone has said be patient. It took me quite a bit of time to find my 08 Type-S 6MT, it was definitely worth the wait and 400 mile round trip drive to pick her up. Whatever you do don't settle for a price, mileage or condition you aren't comfortable with the last thing you want to do is regret your purchase.
As Conan mentioned they may be willing to give you a better value on your trade-in if its cleaned up nice. Dealers will sometimes pay a premium for that so they can turn around and possibility sell your trade-in faster.

If you don't mind me asking, why can't you travel anywhere to pick it up? If you found the perfect car 1,000 miles away, would taking a day off work, flying there and driving it home be worth it?
I ask because that is exactly what I had to do, otherwise I wouldn't have ended up getting one. I flew from Sacramento to LA, the dealership picked me up from the airport in the car, I test drove it back to the dealership and drove it home.

There are 8 TL Type S cars here in the twin cities area. Anywhere from 65k-85k miles and both years. No 6MT models and the price ranges from $16k-$19k
