Stainless steel side mirrors

I was cruzing down the highway the other day and saw a black Audi RS5 with stainless steel side mirrors, looked BO$$ Was wondering if anyone has seen a TL with this mod? I think it would look pretty cool on NBP.

Your right, some cars actually do look pretty cool with the aluminum look mirror caps, I can't picture a TL with that tho. If you did it I think it would just look so awkward since to TL has ever had that...where as Audi has been doing that for a while.

Doubt it would be SS

IMO it would look cheap even on the Audi RS5

yeah your right, I think JTS was right in it being aluminum

That is definitely not any sort of metal. My guess is it's a matte grey/silver paint.

IMO no car other than redneck jacked up trucks with chrome flamed grille guards should have ANY metal at all.

CLtotheTL32 08-04-2014 12:13 PM

They are aluminum.

would look cool on an ASM TL.

But still no on anyone seeing these?

EvilVirus 08-04-2014 01:57 PM

Nope

You could photoshop it to see what it looks like

NBP is the only color I think these would work. Even then, I don't think they are worth the effort :2cents:

I still don't buy it's Aluminum. Look at the side sills below the rocks and the front air deflector. To me in the less than terrific photo they look the same.

I mean those ones could be painted. I was on the audi forum earlier and a lot of people were putting aftermarket brushed aluminum ones on, but they are like $1,700...Thats a bit ridiculous if you ask me.

crbnfbr 08-04-2014 03:00 PM

The ones in the first link are just skins? for £150

Are the ones in the photo at least constructed out of aluminum?

dezymond 08-04-2014 03:01 PM

I don't think the TL is styled aggressively enough for them. Just my opinion

rockyfeller 08-04-2014 09:08 PM

It won't hurt to try it out and see how you like the look. Just buy some silver vinyl overlay and wrap your mirrors. You can find pretty authentic looking stainless steel finish vinyl overlay too nowadays.

Drei 08-04-2014 11:07 PM

It wouldn't look that bad since the front grille is aluminum...

Someone should photoshop :ninja:

yeah, someone should photoshop it

I went with hyper silver xxrs too, so I think that combo might pop with the NBP :2cents:

DaeHanMeenGuk 08-05-2014 11:24 AM

try it out with true metallic plasti-dip?

olivertwizzzt 08-08-2014 04:44 PM

It probably looked good on that car probably because it had the aluminum or chrome trim around the windows as well TL'S have black paint. I dont think it would complement the car at all.

I agree. Also I think, atleast with 07-08, the turning indicator would look out of place.
