Sportshift question ??

I just recently traded my 6mt for AT (dont ask why ). So now im tryin to learn how to drive an auto correctly )) - Its weird i know but my question is when you go for example from 2 to 3rd do you keep the throttle on the floor while changing ? or is it better to lift your foot a bit, almost like you would do with a manual transmission ?

so far ive found out that when i do lift of my foot i can switch gears a lot faster and the engagement is much more smooth... and also when you downshift lets say from 3rd to 2nd is there anyway to avoid engine braking so that it just pumps up the RPM's .....

thanx for any input..

yea, the auto does shift better when you let off the throttle

but it will manage if you floor it :biggrin

but do you want less rpm when downshifting??? IE when braking, just let it downshift by itself

If you dont' let off the gas while shifting, it will take longer to shift. Because computer is thinking "driver needs more power" so holds at lower gear longer. I can shift from 2 to 4 in a blink if I let off the gas.

If you dont want that engine braking then give some gas while downshifting. So this is totally opposite of upshifting

Now, shifting speeds aside, which will give you better acceleration?

definitely when i shift with my foot of the gas pedal. i get faster shifts and theres no lag, much better response. and also when i put the intake soon again it will give me that fast response needed
