Sport Shift and paint

Sport Shift
How many people regularly use their sport shift? I've never driven a stick before and I haven't used my sport shift yet since I bought my car in June. At approx what RPMs should you shift gears and worse case scenario how bad can I fuck up my car if I don't do it right?

Paint
Does anybody else have what appears to be acid rain spots on their trunk and roof? It rained almost every day here in NY this past summer and I have spots on my trunk and roof that appear to be water stains. I washed and waxed my car today and this guy who's a detailer at a car wash noticed the spots immediately. He tried using something to lift out the spots but it did no good. He said I should bring it back to the dealership since it's so new. Anyway, I'm just wondering if anyone else has anything like that on their car and if they did anything about it.

thanks

The sports shift is desgned to prevent you from causing damage. Shift rpm depends on how spirited you're driving. 3000 and above is a good range. Your owner's manual has more detail. I have the spots on my roof, not too worried about them, they can be buffed out later.
