Speed Camera!? Thank god for my radar...

http://www.cnbc.com/id/22931083/site/14081545

well i read that article, i found it in cnbc.com and the hell does it matter to the people who have radar detectors, cuz it does sense speeding cars by a radar band right? All this means is now we dont have to be worry about getting hit by laser, or am i missing something, cuz i prefer having cameras cuz then you simply hear the beep of your radar if you have one when your like a few hundred feet away, you slow down and then speed up again after your radar stops hassling you lol I'd much rather worry about a camera then a cop hiding in the bushes and sassin me cuz my tints are too dark (refer to other tint threads lol)

Im all for camera's, anyone else?

Besides, NY drivers already know where all the camera are at, in fact there are plenty of websites dedicated to such information.

Plus, I know the secret on how to pass them, as practiced by NYPD.

These cameras don't use radar or laser, so your radar detector won't see squat. They use sensors in the roadway to measure how fast a vehicle is going.

So, your radar detector won't give you any protection in this case.

Yep, same goes for the laser, it will only work in your favor if a cop is shooting a car in front of you.

In other words, obey the traffic light...there is a reason it is there.

1. Use a damn period here and there.

2. Camera's don't need radar. They can just take two pictures in rapid succession at a known interval. Software picks out a few common points on your car and identifies them in each pictures. Measure the distance between them and you've got your speed. You never even knew anyone was watching.

3. I'd be pretty paranoid about installing anything that's purpose is to actively conceal your identity in today's climate of extreme paranoia. Especially in NYC. Yay, no ticket. Boo, deported to Gitmo.

I remember this was mentioned a year ago, that in NY and NJ, they will compare the time interval of paid tolls.

They will take the difference in time passed between tolls to calculate how long it took you to travel the distance, thus arriving at your speed.....so if you were speeding, here comes a ticket in the mail.

I hope this NEVER passes

Yes, this definately should be in the Off Topic Section. Since we can't move threads there, feel free to restart the discussion.
