A-Spec front lip not sticking...

Don't know where to put this....

Anyways, I installed the A-spec front lip last night, and it went along very well. All the holes lined up, bolted everything on.....BUT, the driver side 2-way tape isn't holding!! The passenger side is fine....but the upper part of the driver side just won't hold....I can press on it for like 30 seconds and let go, and it'll just pop right back. I tried putting some alcohol on it, but that didnt really do anything. What should I do?

did you remove all the wax and oils from the driver side? if you did, and there was some left, the tape will have absorbed it so the stickyness will be gone for the most part. One member recommeneded using 3M double sided Automotive Grade tape to elimate body gapes with the kit and for it to have a strong bond.

wow. 2 months ago, i got the lip put on by the dealer and recently the same part of the lip is not flush onto the car.
there is now a little opening.

should i let my dealer fix it?
or
should i just try putting some thin double sided tape in the gap?

(its not nice 2 c we have problems on r tls.
however,
it is nice to c we have the same problems)

looking forward to yur thoughts and response.

the tape that comes with the kit is not the best really, i'd recommend going to where it got installed and tell them to take it off, put new tape and ensure that there will not be a gap.

yeah, but if he did it right at first time then tape should been fine. Its not the strongest but it should hold up fine. I intalled mine last year and still going strong.

btw...the tape that you really want to use on the sides of the front and back bumper lips is the 3m "exterior mounting" tape, it's a small red roll that you can get in any hardware store. office depot has it too. just go to the tape section of the store. make sure you get like 3 rolls or so if you are gonna redo the front and back lips. when u put it on u have to put 2 layers on to get the right thickness.

when u put those bitches on, i think i observed that acura used 2 types of stock tape. there is a grey gummy tape (hard as hell to rub off) and there is a darker harder tape on the sides. you want to rip the tape off from the sides, rub the remainder off with your finger, and then replace with the 3m tape. there really isn't a problem with the centers of the lips. they sit pretty flush and stick well with the stock grey gummy tape. when i put my kit on i dawn'ed the bumpers and then rubbed them down with alcohol on a rag. out of the 4 corners i think i have 1 small gap on the front somewhere.

if i were you, i'd do this my self. the longest part of the install is actually sitting on your ass rubbing the excess tape off with your finger. it would probably be a ton easier to spray some turtlewax bug and tar remover on the tape, heat it a little with a hairdryer, and i bet it would rub right off (i discovered this when i was debadging).
