They were the OEM Type-S

pawelTL6MT 04-04-2011 10:30 AM

Did you have wheel locks?
I'm sure they can still get through those, but just wondering.

Sorry to hear

Had the Acura OEM wheel locks on, didn't stop them! The car is riding on cinder blocks and the plactic molding is bent up where the car is sitting. The front rotors are trased as they are sitting on them and who know what other damage, I'm assuming they just let the front end slam down.

I know right! It give me an idea of how I want it to look...it does suck but what can you do, that's what you pay insurance for!

jamesl5385 04-04-2011 11:59 AM

DAMN Sorry to hear about that man. Hope they get the bastards.

av2600 04-04-2011 12:06 PM

sorry for the loss... you said you had wheel locks? Does anyone know if there any other locks that would provide more protection? I was about to order the acura wheel locks... but am hesitant now....

:agree:

If you guys are really worried about your wheels and ever want a better chance at finding them, think about "marking" your wheels.

The easiest thing to do is probably sharpie in a random number/letter combo on the inside of the wheels on the back of a spoke. If you want something a bit more permanent, you can buy an etching tool and etch the last 5 of your VIN or something into them.

Even if the crooks know about this, you'll see sanding marks from either removing the sharpie or marks from them trying to get rid of the etching. If you want to be a bit more secure, you can do it on the inside of the wheels under the tire so the tires would need to be dismounted to ever find them.

VQPower37 04-04-2011 12:11 PM

^ thats a great idea, seems like its a necessity with how wheels are being stolen on the regular these days

A SiQ TL 04-04-2011 12:15 PM

Damn, it's bad enough someone stole them, but they had to trash the car by dumping/leaving it on the ground too. That would piss me off more.

FaFaFooey 04-04-2011 12:22 PM

That's such a sick feeling coming out of your house and seeing your car jacked. Sorry to hear. Hope they find the bastards.

RainSupreme 04-04-2011 12:57 PM

I understand that living in the city I am always taking a chance of having something nice...I was hoping the the wheel locks would prevent this, out of all the lugs laying on the ground the locking nut is missing from all four, don't know what I am gonna do when I get it back...thinking at least two or three locking lugs. As for catching the guys, fat chance, I hate to say it but it honestly is! Good idea on marking the rims, I'll be sure to do this on my new set!

rockstar143 04-04-2011 01:12 PM

that's cute...and they only used the bricks to make sure they could get the jack out for the front. What jerks!

lummer23 04-04-2011 01:43 PM

Wow.. always thought the wheel locks would prevent shitheads from doing this...

Dino81 04-04-2011 02:15 PM

Wheel locks will only slow someone down, they probably either beat a socket over the locks, or they do make a tool to get off stripped nuts/locking lugs...I have one from snap-on..

Anyways sorry for ur loss......theiving bastards!

rksokol 04-04-2011 02:18 PM

Sorry about your bad luck. I would def. go on craigslist or eBay and scout out those rims.

mau108 04-04-2011 02:21 PM

ah don't be a detective and get your self in trouble. This is what insurance is for, get new rims, new lock/lug nuts and let it be.

I'm sure it is a hassle but there isn't much you can do other then installing a Compustar alarm with tilt sensor.

this is interesting.... so they left all the lug nuts except the locks?

JWTL04 04-04-2011 02:32 PM

Now thats what i call a tail dragger. That sucks man.

This happen to a buddy of mine and ever since he has bought 5 different sets ofwheel locks and used one of each set per wheel. Its a pain for removing his rims but since then someone has tried 3 different times to steal his rims and have not been successful. Twice the guys were caught.

SimonCL-S6 04-04-2011 02:38 PM

That sucks. The hottest mod right now should be surveillance cameras in the sideview mirrors. :what:

now what i've read is that they just get a cheap hex socket and hammer the thing onto your lock lug, then use a wrench. basically negates the whole special lock.

if you had 5 different lock lugs then that would slow them down in a sense that they would have to have 20 cheap sockets to waste.

Pharonocon 04-04-2011 02:41 PM

If you don't have an aftermarket alarm, I would consider getting one if your gunna park out in the open. I am sure you already thought about that, but just throwing out there.

Luckily I have a garage, but am still considering an alarm since I want remote start anyway.

Sorry for the loss. Hope they catch those losers.

ACOSTA911 04-04-2011 02:43 PM

damn dude im sorry to hear that. i see this tis everydy wher i work. check your local pawn and rim shops coz these kids doin this are only out to make a quick buck. take the case nuber from the police report and bring it to the property manager and ask them whats being done to help prevent this problem from occuring again. like more lighting or cameras or a secruity company. best thingi can tell you to try and prevent this is parkin a well lightd area, lots of foot traffic an alarm and or buy a sniper gun and take them out fom the window =p

murph145 04-04-2011 02:45 PM

man i cant believe people are that ballsy to do this in an open place and not be worried about someone seeing them... i guess most passer bys would turn a blind eye because thats how this world is these days..

I had a lowered truck in a community apartment complex garage get broken into "smached window" stole my cd deck and sub and the car next to mine got stolen... i printed a note warning everyone about this and some chick had the nerve to say "I don't care, it didn't happen to my car"

F'n people sorry for your loss shit like this makes me mad!
