I think the 0-60s are the same 6.0 for the Mazdaspeed 3 and 6.0 for the 6MT TL if Im not mistaken. In the end it comes down to whether youre piloting a Mazda or an Acura. Not trying to flame on anyone here with a Mazda but Ill take my TL over a Mazda 3 any day of the week.

per C&D mazdaspeed 3 is very tricky to launch... the official 0-60 time is 5.8 - bout dead-even with the TL 6mt.

As Final said, it boils down to the driver.

and yes... I'll take my TL over mazdaspeed 3 any day.

really different class...I have a friend that has a mazdaspeed 3 SP23 edition and 160hp vs 258hp is really no match, not to mention 4 cyl vs 6 cyl. But 0-60s really depends on how the driver reacts.

Hmm The TL 6MT does have less hp and torque than the Mazdaspeed 3 and not to mention that the TL weighs quite a bit more. But I guess the fact that the 3 is harder to launch (may be because of its turbo or high torque?) will make the 0-60 time quite close. I'm not sure about the 1/4 mile time either. But from the numbers, I would say the mazdaspeed 3 is faster once it gets going. And I believe mazdaspeed offers some aftermarket cat-back and CAI that would add an additional 30hp. Anyways stock vs stock the TL Type S should beat the mazdaspeed 3, if the normal TL 6MT can't beat it. Again, I'm not sure but that's what I think.

tidus. it seems like you want to call your friends claim to be bull and need proof. and it seems like you are going to long lengths to do this. so i say go out and buy yourself a mazdaspeed 3 and take his lying ass to the track and spank him.
that would shut him up really good.
if you are not willing to go thru all that, just nod at your friends and smile. cause it makes no difference.

have you people read C&D results?

=) TL has a better 0-60mph, 0-120mph then mazdaspeed 3
TL has better skidpad...better slalom
TL has better 5-60mph time =)

so why do u people think TL will lose?
just because of mazdaspeed 3 has high torque and hp? if you look at dyno... it only spikes and drop... vs... the way that TL's engine provides a linear line of power and tq! =)

Area under curve is what counts =)

thanks tidus888 for clearing things up! If you just look at the numbers, people would really thing the MS3 has the upper hand!! max torque at low rpm right? But like you've said, I guess the torque curve sucks! And not to mention the 300-400lbs weight difference!

mazdaspeed 3 is suppose to be pretty damn fast...i think a stock tl would take it off the line cuz of the torque reducing system in the mazda..i believe that is why the dyno graphs suck for it, it pulls power in i think the first 2 gears maybe? but i think the mazda will start pullin once it starts spoolin..not to mention with a boost controller alone those things will be flying..then again its still a damn mazda 3...you can make anything fast...but still wont be as nice riding and pimp as our cars

yea onebadtls, that's what i thought too, until I saw the numbers in C&D. TL 6MT has pretty much the same numbers as the MS3! Unless you upgrade the MS3, then it seems like it won't really pull on the 6MT TL afterall.

but you remember need to note one more thing =) from what i heard in dealers.. the numbers should've improved a bit after the end of 2004 life cycle... something about the rear suspension...

=)

if you look at MS6... itz even worst... go to roadandtrack.com or caranddriver.com =) look at MS6's 0-100mph...
it looks... REALLY BAD...

and why? coz freaking mazda made an engine that only peaks power and tq... but has NO FLAT lines at all.... the tremandous power drop after 5750 rpm is just sad....

wonder what happen if we swap the RDX engine over to the TL!!!!! =)

such nice curves..

tidus888, it seems like you love acura even more so than me!! =D

Yeah I know the MS6 is fast for 0-60, but I never really thought about its 0-100 time. Btw, is it heavier than the TL?

I agree about the MS6's power drop....just look at its torque and hp numbers...

RDX engine in the TL? I guess it might help its F/R weight disturbution? I also think it's good if they drop it into the TSX!

for the time being, 3G TL and Mazdaspeed 2.3L motor is a driver's race. But keep in mind, CobbTuning is supposed to be making an accessport for that motor, that is supposed to do quite a bit.
