So I forgot to share this act of kindness during to holidays to me.

So I needed some front tires to pass inspection because apparently my WR-rated Continental tires were showing the belt in the inside front tires after only 8000mi. Word is the 3rd gen TL has had a front toe issue since 04. Idk. So my good friend and mechanic at Acura of 17yrs asked if i looked on Craigslist. I'm thinking I'd never find 45-series used tires worth any mileage worth buying. But damn if he did not find an ad. The guy had them on his Jetta GLI but didn't have the tires anymore and only wanted 25.00 to clear them out is garage. So I'm like these things aren't going to be any good but I hope good enough to pass inspection so I could get my tags. So we schedule a meet at one of the local Home Depot's. He wanted to meet like at 0900 but I explained my physical "issue" and that my CNA isn't here until 1000 and that I could meet him around noon. He agreed. So I text him that I was otw and would be there in :15-20min. So I part (I'm there 1st.) and wait. 5 min later he pulls up. His wife is with him. He walks over, shakes my had and have a expeditious conversation and then he asks where i wanted the tires. I told him the trunk and kept chatting with the wife. So now he's done. I reach over to get the 25.00, turn back to hand them the money and the wife says "Merry Xmas". I was plain shocked and appreciative. Gave a guy a warm feeling. People just dont do this enough in these times. Now for the tires. The still have about 30k miles left on them. Thats a lot of driving since I live 3-4mi from the airport (I run a flight school).

I did one like that a week before Christmas, a single mom of 5 was in need of a tree because the X took or destroyed everything. We had a 6' tree and garland & decorations & lights. I verified through others she was actually in need and not scamming. I contacted her and arranged to drop off the tree etc.. When I got to her house she didn't have much but the kids were young, polite and clean.. She didn't smell of smoke etc.

After she saw all the stufF I was dropping off she started to cry..

I shook her hand and in doing so I slipped her $20 and said Christmas dinner was on me.. Buy a ham.. I wished her a Merry Christmas....

The look in her eyes was worth more than any gift I got Christmas Day...

My view on people is pretty low. I paid a co-workers car payment which was over $400 and told him it was a gift. I let him borrow a total of $700 which he paid back. I also did his brakes on one car and the power booster on the second car. Not a single thank you. Not even a small contribution, nothing. Shortly after I asked to borrow $.50 for the snack machine because all I have is $20. He said no because I borrowed $.50 a few months ago and never paid him back. I lost it at that point and told him what kind of person he was. He has asked me twice since then to help him once to lower his POS car and the other to install an IB sub setup. The last time I almost popped him so I think he knows better now.

My own parents who I cut off a while ago let me pay for every dinner, lunch, movie, etc and the one time my father who is rich wanted me to stop by McDonalds he specified to make it two separate orders so he didn't have to pay for mine.

I could go on and on for days but I think the average person is pure shit based on my 37yrs on earth.

Still though, last year I was sitting in the car waiting for the fiancée to come out of a store and I was approached by a mid 20s woman and her two kids. For some reason I had faith they were genuinely down on their luck. They had put together some small baskets with candy and were trying to sell them so they weren't just looking for a handout. I talked to her for a minute and the husband had left them and they were getting evicted but she was trying to get money to buy the kids a Christmas gift. I had just sold some land and had a good bit of cash on me so I gave her $200. She refused to take it at first and then broke down crying. I felt good for that one.

Now, I'm very selective about who I help out. I'm an asshole to most which wasnt always the case. I had this hood rat come up to me recently and ask to use my cell phone to get the bus schedule. The bus stop was only 50' away and they always have the schedule. I said this phone and held it up. He shook his head and I told him no chance in hell. At best he was going to take off running with it.

I've been around so many shitty people that I have to fight the urge to go back to my violent ways. I always believed in respect and not fear but at least when people knew who I was and what I did they were too afraid to act like they do. It's sad but the average person is only decent out of fear.

Did I go too far off topic lol.

The sad thing is people now-a-days try to take advantage of each other.

Either way, there's nothing wrong in helping people when in need. If you have plenty then why not share.

Damn dude, happy new year! haha, you should change your name to I hate people. jk. I hear ya. I have cheap parents too man, had to pay for everything myself...but they had their reasons and I respect that, made me better. People def can suck, no doubt. I always do what my mama told me, "killem w kindness". It's amazing how much that can help. Makes them look like the fool...not all the time but enough that it's worthwhile strategy. Stop fixing up people's cars for free, that should be your new year's resolution!
