So, my 2004 SSM TL 6MT/Nav was the 9th Honda vehicle I've proudly owned/loved. I purchased it in May of 2011 and kept is mostly stock. I removed the resonator box and added a K&N filter, tinted the windows and added a Progress rear sway bar. I loved it just the way it was.

Two Saturdays ago, I was heading to the city [Baltimore] with my girlfriend. I do this drive quite often. I turned onto route 1 south from route 152 and merged into the left lane.

On the right side of the road is a new little area where they've added a Texas Roadhouse and a McDonalds. There is an exit from that area onto route 1 south with a stop sign and a 'right turn only' sign. There's also a median placed there to prevent people from making an illegal left.

Well, that didn't stop this moron from trying. A woman in a Mazda MPV darted out across both southbound lanes, right in front of me. I swerved to try and avoid her but it was no use. I hit her driver side door with my passenger side front bumper as she was trying to swing in front of me. 5 of my TL's airbags deployed (both front, passenger side seat airbag and both passenger side curtains) Thankfully we all were okay, but my poor TL didn't make it.









I was/am really pissed about having to say goodbye, so I set out to find another. I had a rental for 2 weeks (a sweet mitsu Galant... ) so my timeframe was short. I found a suitable replacement at a dealer in NOVA, and I have to think it belonged to a Acurazine member, based on the degree of care it looks to have received, as well as the upgrades.

I was wondering if anyone on here might recognize it and/or know the previous owner. I've already put a deposit on the car to have it held, and will be taking delivery as late as this weekend. I just wanted to share my story, wish all of you well, and see if I might be able to track down the previous owner just to get some history on it.

Yeah, I noticed the [very tasteful] mods right away. It has the Type S rear side markers, Type S tail lights, A-Spec lip kit, some kind of rear lip spoiler (not OEM, I don't think), de-badged, tint, aftermarket wheel locks, some audio upgrades, and the 07-08 fog light/grille mod that looks to have been very well done. They even function with the OEM fogs in the headlight housings. The interior is all stock and very clean. It also has an AEM CAI. Suspension appears to be stock and I forgot to have a look at the rear sway bar.

My gf is okay, thanks for asking. She bit down on impact and messed up her teeth a bit. She is still pretty sore and bruised from the seatbelt, but the car did an excellent job keeping her safe.

The speed limit at that area is 50mph. I had just recently entered the road a few hundred feet back and was getting up to speed up until the attempted avoidance/impact. I was probably doing 40-45mph. Her airbags didn't deploy and her window didn't even break, somehow.

Wow that's horrible, glad you're both OK. Don't let the minivan lady's insurance try to lowball you. It was obviously her fault and she should have to pay for every cent that you lost out on, including days missed from work, mods done to your car, and medical issues for you both. Good luck, that TL you found looks sweet, just toss some aspec wheels on her and it will be way sexier

Man that's sucks! Stupid comes in both male and female. Keep an eye on your girlfriend. Many don't feel the full bodily impact for a few months. Find a good lawyer. Nice replacement!

Thanks! I honestly didn't notice the saggy ass at the time, but I see it now. I'll have to address that along with a couple of other minor things once I get it home.

Thanks! Yeah, so far the insurnace has been okay. The other driver has GEICO (thankfully-- I did a public records search on her and she was cited in 12/2011 for knowingly driving without insurance and driving on a suspended registration, among other violations) and the adjuster assigned to my claim could easily see that I cared for my car. He rated the entire thing 'dealer ready' which apparently is the 2nd highest rating they can use. The highest is 'exceptional' which is reserved only for brand new cars, pretty much. I owed $8700 on it and they valued it at $11k.

As for the medical stuff-- I had a mild concussion that I got checked out for. My gf has gotten a lawyer and it's being handled. It looks like I'll be settling on my case long before she will.

It's funny you say that. My girlfriend is half japanese and actually quite a good driver. She often complains about her gender and its plethora of horrible drivers. [I have to say, though-- I see morons of all varieties] When the accident happened my first concern was that she was okay. I was walking her out of the car and over to the side of the road and she had some words for the other [female] driver. The next day she kept saying 'I'm so mad at my gender....'

Haha, yeah I had a feeling someone might mention my tattoos. Especially with the strong mid-atlantic population here. Some may have noticed the entire sleeve is a tribute to Maryland.

Yes it is! From what I could see, the dent there isn't terrible. The body has little issues all over, which I expected from a 7 year old car. That spot seems to be the worst of it though.

Yessir, the new one is also a 6MT. It's basically the same exact thing as my previous one. I'll get to the details in a sec.

Ahh, that CL... I still get a little misty-eyed when I see a ABP CL-S on the road. At last check, the guy I sold it to still has it, and is taking very good care of her. I think he even did the NSX brake swap up front.

I was very impressed with how the TL handled the impact, and that it kept us safe. It was one of the many reasons why I went right back to another one.

The new one is almost identical to my old one.

Old was a 2004 SSM TL 6MT with nav, black interior. I purchased it with 96k on the clock. It had 142k on it at the time of the accident.

New one is a 2005 SSM TL 6MT with nav, black interior. It has 76k on it and the mods you see in the pics, plus an AEM CAI. It may also have a different rear sway bar on it. The rest of the suspension looks stock, as well as the exhaust as far as I can tell.

According to MD public records, yes.

1. Driver changing lanes when unsafe
2. Driver failure to obey properly placed traffic control device instructions
3. Driver failure to yield right of way entering hwy from private driveway

It takes 10 days for the official report to become available. I'm picking it up tomorrow.

get the medical stuff taken care of. concussions...no joke. as far as the injuries to your GF...make sure she gets PT for treatment. i've seen MVA injuries turn into more chronic things if they are not treated and managed right away.
