Snow Performance in Philadelphia

Hey all. It snowed almost 12 inches here in the suburbs of Philly. I took the TL to my friend's house who lives about 20 minutes away. The car performed well with the EL42's. The VSA and ABS kicked in a few times when traction was lost and kept me driving straight. The roads were still a bit iffy today, but I think the TL did a lot better than what I have been hearing from other people on this forum lately. I am positive the TL could do a lot better with winter tires, but the EL42's did fine for me.

Glad to hear you're doing good on snowy roads.

Moosh...i was not going anywhere this weekend...with my HPT pacakage. Those are horrid. It was the only option on the car I did not want but it was NBP with 6MT so I had to pick it up. I am thinking my aspec 18;s with TOyo Proxes 4 would of performed better than the winter set up I have (if that is what you want to call it) I just did not want to drive around with the 18's on in the snow and salt...

NO SALT for my TL!!! It's a shame to drive a $32,000 car in sloppy weather...get yourself a winter "beater" and keep the TL off the salty roads. If the salt doesn't ruin your finish, the crushed stone they mix with the salt will get inside the suspension components and finish the job that the salt doesn't get to. This car is too nice to abuse with PENDOT crud!

Agreed! I do lease this though, so by the time the paint starts to disolve I will be trading in the TL for a NSX......maybe

Took mine out in the mess too and it handled pretty well. The only time I had trouble was when the snow was higher than the underbody of the car and I almost got stuck. I'll tell ya, there's nothing like pull the e-brake in the snow in an empty parking lot!

Drove 150 miles today all over the Philly burbs. The car handled well in those not so cleared roads. Then got caught in the additional inch we received at rush hour. Car also did well on really shitty roads. I felt very secure, especially seeing an older model Nissan 350 spin out in front of me. VSA kicked in at times, but nothing major.

I did alot of driving this weekend, 2x to the airport and once to King of Prussia. 202 became a 1 lane highway. I have LS-Z tires and they performed very well. Only time that I got stuck was when I was pulling out of a gas station. They didn't plow the snow at all and I felt my car nose sink into the soft snow. But VSA kicked in and I got out with no problems. Very nice.
