Red face Smoked a 330i

Coming up the freeway late at night, traffic cleared in front of us and a newer 330i who was in front of me took off. I floored it, and to my surprise had absolutely no problem catching up to him/her and passed easily. "He must not be trying" I thought.

Well we came up on a couple more cars, slowed down, and when things cleared away the 330 took off again. We started at about 75 and I had no problem passing it, and staying way in front. I think the driver lost nerve around 120, or maybe that's all the 330 is good for because I shot ahead at that point.

One more time, this time going up a long steep hill. Dusted him. This 5AT Navi TL is truly amazing. I bet the 330i was not listening to DTS 5.1 music, either.

5AT fans: Third gear seems to be good for around 100mph. But I can't get the tranny (nor SS) to kick down to 3rd above 80mph or so. Does everyone have this problem?

The manumatic is a toy! It is only really useful for downshifting. All in all the auto tranny is so responsive that its a moot point anyway. The important thing here is that the Bimmer was thoroughly smoked! Good kill!

Right. SS is useless in most of occassions, except downhills/uphills.

I admire that 330 drivers never gave up.

Maybe you should try to race with Adam, he killed one of our own. He's good.

Thats b/c you have control of all 4 gears. I still enjoy taking out my '99 TL-P as well...the seats in there seem more comfortable than the ones in my S.
