Smoked an 04 RL again and again!
Ok so I was heading home from my gym and I was behind an 04 RL, which I noticed was going way over 50 in a 30 mph zone (as I was going like 40-45 and he was way ahead of me). Once the road turned into a two lane road I got next to him as we both got stuck at a red light. He stared down my car of course with his sunglasses on (mind you this is past 11 pm) and his "cool" buddy riding shotgun did the same. The light turned green and he floored his car, I thought screw him so I just drove normally. Being that this is Staten Island you can't go more than like 1/2 a mile without stopping for some reason. So at the next light when I saw him again I was like well maybe this punk needs to be taught a lesson. So off went the VSA system and I floored it at the next light as did he and surely enough I left him in the dust once I got to 30 mph or so(I guess the better low-end torque in the RL kept him sorta even for a lil while). So we repeated this another 3 times with the same result, the final run included a Mazda 6, which I also clearly dusted. People like him gotta have a better understanding as to what their car is capable and what the competition is capable of, because his ass got smoked!

Let's see.
RL=225hp, 231 lbs-ft torgue, 3,893 lbs curb weight
TL=270hp, 238 lbs-ft torque, 3,575 lbs curb weight
So what is the big accomplishment?

If he had known this, he would have known he didn't have a chance.

expensive doesnt equal fast...
high power + low weight = fast
TL isnt the fastest out there for sure, but for being an entry level luxury car that is as cheap as it is, its surprisingly powerful.

And we're surpised at this outcome because? The RL never had a chance, as Ron points out above.

I only raced him because he had the typical look of a macho punk who thinks his car is the bomb and has a chance to kill me (I drive my mom's 97 RL once in a while and I know what that car can do), so I just figured why not teach him a lesson and make him look bad. As for South Avenue it's nice there but there are usually no cars to race... all the racers or whatever u call them with nice cars drive along Hylan and/or Richmond Ave. (which is where we raced, from Eltingville towards the mall).

When I had my Maxima I went to a meet at the CC parking lot and than went over to south ave to have some runs. Of course I didn't race. This was like 3-4 years ago.
Your right about Hylan and Richmond. All the racers just drive around there looking to race someone. Especially friday and saturday nights. Sometimes there's a lot of cops around there though. I always see people get pulled over.

Not a Blowhole
Notify the press - this is a shocker !!!! (not). Really, the RL is a cushmobile, and it has way too much avoirdupois per HP to move its sorry butt out of its own way. Pick on worthier opponents, or drivers with more brains than money. It its current state, RL does mean Real Loser, or Really Languid.
