Smiles Per Gallon
I just took my 08- Type S on its 1st long range trip. Before this, it was only used for the last 2700 miles to travel around town locally, where I averaged 19-22 MPG. This past weekend I traveled 673 miles, over a 30 hour period, averaging 59 MPH. When the trip was complete I averaged 29 MPG. At one point the "Trip Computer" registered 30 MPG. Unbelievable. I don't get 29 MPG on the highway with my 164HP Sonata. I am impressed for 286 HP. I am interested in knowing what is the best mileage you have attained with your TL?

I've seen as high as an indicated 34 mpg on the highway coming back on I-95.
Highest calculated based off of the actual fill-ups was just a hair under 29 mpg. For a big car, it gets decent mileage. In fact, the mileage numbers are only fractionally different from the mileage I was getting from my TSX when I owned that.

i've done 30mpg from LA to vegas @ 80mph just recently. the mpg gets higher if i drive slower. i've seen it at 40mpg @60mph but that is way too slow for the i-15. lol

These figures were calculated and not taken from the MID.. obviously because they are given to the hundredths. They are for my '04 manual TL which at the time, still had its OEM factory EL42 tires on it.
The best I ever managed for a week of work commuting was during the summer (I believe the second summer I owned the car). My commute was through the business and residential areas of a small city to the town where I live. Traffic was light in the mornings and moderate in the afternoons and I was really trying to get the best possible mileage for that week just to see how good it would be. For that week, I managed to get 27.98 MPG for five days of commuting.
The best I ever managed for a highway trip (about 260 miles) was in September 2005. We were heading out for our vacation and left the house eight hours later than usual because we were watching a hurricane's path develop. We left at noon on a Sunday with the temperature at 86 degrees so we used the A/C the entire time of the trip. Traffic was kind of heavy but moving fast. The first 50 miles we averaged 62 MPH. The next 130 miles we averaged 73 MPH. And the last 80 miles we averaged 78 MPH. I was using no special gas-saving techniques and I my mileage for those 260 miles was 33.94 MPG.

I just did a San Diego to Ridgecrest trip via 15 and 395. There's a large mountain pass and I was cruising at a decent speed with some high speed runs on the open road of I-395. My MPG was 30 MPG!
I think that is incredible for the type of car and the speeds I was going. I had a MID average speed of 65 and about 30 city miles before starting the trip. I got even better mileage coming back and still have 27 MPG on the MID with 3 days of normal city commute. I'll tank up on Friday and calculate actual mileage.
For my car, the MID is very accurate and I don't mind quoting MID figures until I do the real calculations that are always with .5MPG of MID anyway.

I live in Miami FL where it is hot and humid most of the time. I live about 3 miles from work but sometimes have to drive to different sites. Around town I get about 15 miles per gallon!!!! Just recently I have been driving to remote sites 50 miles away and have been getting 32 mpg's as indicated on the computer. With the poor gas mileage initially I thought there was something wrong with my car. Guess I was wrong. City mileage still sucks though...

I was able to get 37 MPG driving down to Brooklyn from Newburgh, NY. I was drafting for most of the time and basically doing the speed limits for the rest of the time. this was also the trip where I found out how thin the paint is that Acura uses. Needless to say, I will never get 37 MPG again
