Quote: There's loads of pictures here, but just look at your back door handle, and the front door handle will look just like it.

But here's a picture in case your TL doesn't have a back door

thanks for the post, ron. I bought the part from A of E quite some time ago but wasn't sure how to replace them. was a little hesitant to remove the door panel. didn't know it was this simple.

Quote: I thought about doing this mod, until I remember I do use my key to roll up my windows a few times when I was walking away from the car and notice that I forgot to close one of my windows.

Since I didn't do the mod "Using FOB to remotely close all windows", I probably leave my key hole alone, so I can close all windows from outside without getting into the car.
I feel ya...if I did this, I'd have to do the FOB mod, to which I'm too lazy to search for right now.

If anyone has a cover with the keylock hole in it in WDP that they would like to get rid of, PM me. A lady I work with traded in her C240 for an 06 Navi WDP and scratched the lock cover the first time she inserted the key in the door.

Last time I check, "FOB mod to roll up all windows", definitely nice to have, but seems pretty complicate. It is something that I won't attempt myself. Hopefully it is a different story for you.

The same ebay seller sells them with the keyhole for $8 (plus shipping) as well. I doubt anyone will want to sell their old one.

Just want to make sure I have the installation sequence down. Do you just pry the cover off? or do you do something with the tab shown in the picture? I'd just prefer not to screw up my car.

TIA

Just pull the tab up shown in the pics and it will come right off! When you get a new one though, you only use the actual colored cover part...the metal backing will be extra after you are done as this will already be on your car.....you take new one....remove it from backing plate and install it on the old remaining backing plate thats still on the car. This whole thing is VERY easy and will take you less than 3 minutes total!

Quote: Yes....that is the way to go. The only thing you remove is that actual plastic cover...there is a tab where it hooks up you can see when you pull the handle out.

The pic above showns the tab you pull/pry up on......

Thanks Guys, I've ordered it and let you know how it goes!

As far as the chrome strip, I've seen it on ebay and was tempted. Looks pretty good, understated.

I would say that if you wanted a TSX...thats what you should get! Personally....I like the monotone look. That is the way the TSX door handles are....

After looking at the posts with pics and the excellent discription, I was able to get the cover off and on. I didn't even scratch my brand new car. Now I just need the new cover!

TIA

I guess I want to be sure: If the factory alarm goes off, is the only way to turn it off to put the key into the keyhole and turn? Or is there some other way to turn off the alarm?

You just press unlock on your key fob and the alarm will go off.

Mine didn't come off so easy from the angle the picture is showing...so i just put a screwdriver in from above to the top of the piece. There's rubber backing behind it, so nothing got scratched. Quick, easy, cheap, and painless mod.

And post em in a new thread too......somewhere more applicable where other people can find it rather than hanging it onto this thread where it frankly...is off topic. This being a thread in the 3G garage; it should remain on topic.

Yes....please start another thread>that has absolutely nothing to do with "shaved door lock mod part source"....the 3G Garage title. Just start a new thread.....how hard is that>stop hanging stuff on the end of this one and "coat-tailing" this thread.....make an appropriate thread for it man!

Just order one from AOE .. since I know I will be doing the window roll up mod, no need to keep those key hole accessible.

Excellent mod, Michael... Installed mine today. In addition to looking really cool, this prevents the "grungy lock look"..... Kinda like putting a cover over your belly button to prevent lint from accumulating....
