Talking Service thoughts

hello acurazine community,

I would like to say thanks for your answer to my question.

I have a TL 2006 model, no-nav ... About 75,000 miles, i brought this car band new and keeping this for a while.

question 1:
Is it about time to recharge my A/c ? It does blow cold air but have not dont anything to it.

question 2:
Do i need to flash the brake line? the dealer give me a report saying it needs to be flash out. I have not done a thing to it but replace brake pads.

question 3:
i need to know about the "cabin/hepa micro filter" cost $109 dealer.. is there something i can use that does not cost a lot of money ?

1) No, unless your A/C is NOT working properly.
The only time to recharge is when the A/C does not blow cold air.

2) Yes, the manual recommends that all the brake fluid be flushed and changed every three years-- brake fluid absorbs moisture and degrades. The brake fluid change is the only maintenance item that is periodic and not controlled by the Maintenance Minder.

3) "Rock Auto" sells carbon and regular cabin filters for something less than $15, as do a number of other sites. I hope the dealer is installing it (requires removal of the glove box), for the price you were quoted. You may want to DIY, though-- there are a couple of threads and links in the 3G Service Area showing how to do it yourself, and a YouTube video somewhere as well.

2) The manual states the frequency of fluid changes so you're do if you haven't done that before. A worth while and easier interim item is to take a turkey baster and suck out some of the old fluid in the reservoir and replace it with new fluid. The at won't hurt and is pretty simple to do.

3) If you're handy you can save a lot of money replacing the air filter yourself. There is a DIY on this forum that shows you how and some of us (me included) have done the modification that allows you to replace the filter without even taking the glovebox out via an access hole cut out.

Welcome to Azine! As the other members have said, you can change the cabin air filter yourself. ~$15, and 10 min of your time. Here's the DIY....found in the 3G Garage on the first page of Azine. There are also some part #'s in this thread as well.
