Service prices different from dealer to dealer, normal?
I know that each dealer has different prices for their service, but normally the difference should be less than $20 right? My brakes may need to be replaced and here's where the price difference blew my mind. Here are some prices locally in So. Cali:
Downey Acura:
B Service: $79.95
Front Brake: $270
Rear Brake: $275
Metro Acura (Montclair)
B Service: $115
Front Brake: $195
Rear Brake: $130
Thomas Acura (W. Covina)
B Service: $125
Front Brake: $179 (can't remember, but it's in this neighborhood)
Rear Brake: $130
Is this normal? Just check out the price difference on the brake service, over $100 . The brake service includes changing of pads and rotor resurface. Can anyone else share prices for the service listed above in multiple dealers in your area. Just curious. I just want to see the price difference between dealers in different areas of the U.S. (I guess too ) Also, will your dealer match prices with other dealers in the area. So far Downey Acura has been kind to me, even though I didn't buy my car from them. Shout out to Kam (he may visit the forum since I have the AZ sticker on my rear windshield )

Each dealer is an independent business that happens to sell the same products. They can each charge whatever they can get away with. Even the cars are sold at different prices so what do you expect?
Did you know that Walmart (all same owners) charges different prices in different neighborhoods. You decide who is worse. Knowledge is power. Happy shopping.

Bought my TL @ Metro and Thomas is right up my streets
I personally wouldnt go to Thomas. Very small dealership who charges you the MSRP and not a penny less. Ill be looking for that sticker!
If you go to metro talk to Scott @ services, very cool guy might give you a discount. Tell him Christian sent you(the guy with the body kit and the girl who thought she was my wife).

I think each dealer bundles unnessesary services from days long gone. Whenever I see service schedules that include various inspections, I never beleive they are actually done.
I think they let the oil drain for about one minute (most but my oil is still dripping out after 20 minutes) then put the drain plug back on with airtools. Quick change with a dry filter and then they overfill the crankcase because they did not let enough oil drain. For the tire rotation, they grab their trusty airtools and way over-tighten the lug nuts. Then they charge you for inspections that are no more then a donut break for the tech.
No thanks, I do my own work. From my experience, good mechanics work at independant shops and chumps work at stealerships.

so i guess it is normal. just thought the difference would be closer than what i've seen. if i only had time to learn and do these maintenance i wouldn't have this problem
BTW, i got a TSX/navi loaner since they found out where my "whistling noise" problem is coming from. let me just say, it hasn't been a day and i totally miss my car. so many missing things - but that's on another thread

If you are doing the brakes, do them yourself. The pads cost like $65 for the front set. ($99 if you want something exotic). And it seriously only takes like 10 minutes per side to do.
If you need to resurface the rotors, I've seen machine shops do them for $20 a piece. Heck, on my other car, I got a set of PowerSlot slotted rotors for $179 for a pair.
