The service costs...
I just did "service B", I think the service is a little bit expensive: CAN$239 ...
the service includes:
replace oil filter, service front & rear breaks, rotate tire, inspect parking brake,
inspect suspension, inspect exhaust & fule lines, check all fluid levels & check for leaks.
what do u think?

I think if you had done a search and seen the numerous threads saying that what you got for your money was a ripoff, you could have saved some dough.
Some people get it because it gives them peace of mind, but this is a high cost to pay for things that should be included in any oil change (about $30US), and if you add in the tire rotation (about $35US), you were slightly overcharged.

What I did with my Passat and will do with this car is I printed the requirements for the service and checked off each one as I did it.
The inspections are all visual things and if it means taking off all 4 wheels and looking I do it .. same with exhaust and fuel lines.
The only thing I can see is if the "Service the brakes" = replacing them then the labour does add up. I was told the first set of brakes were free ( but I pay the labour) . I said give me the pads I'll do them myself.
Checking fluids?? they will get you for a 1/2 hour labour on that one.
Any good independent will do a full inspection like that for 1 hours shop rate.. less than $100. Add the oil change and your under $150

Having it in thier shop for 1.5 hours doesn't mean they worked on it full time.

My guess is that "doing the brakes" means nothing more than inspecting them for pad wear and rotor surface, which to do it thoroughly would take about 15 seconds per wheel. It's really tragic how some dealers soak the customer.

My service B reminder just came up and I'm seriously considering scrapping it. I'll get the oil changed and poke my head here and there but with less than 10k miles I think paying for the other stuff isn't necessary.

Did it in my driveway this weekend. Not too hard but had a close call using just 2 jacks to do the tire rotation, but its all good I did all the inspections, there is still another 5-10K of brake life left. Cost was 40 bucks with M1 and a filter.

Servicing the brakes should include lubricating the caliper slides. Not just looking at the pads. As long as you are doing that service while you are ckecking off the list, I see no problem with a DYI service at this interval.
