Sensoro Radar detector

Got the Sensora Traveller detector today from Costco ($97). It rate itself 3rd under Valentine one and Bell 9xx series. For the price, it is good. What I like about it is that that you can use 2 AA batteries and or the power cord. I use NiMh AA batteries which I can re-charge. In a pinch, I can use the power cord if the battery dies on me. This way, I can place the detector anywhere on my windshield and not have to deal with the wires.

That just goes to show you how poor their marketing department is...they rate "themselves" 3rd. When I rate myself...its always....atleast...2nd.

Looks like a good buy...curious how well it works.

I hope it works out for you, but most of the time you get what you pay for and $97 is not a lot to pay for a detector.

It may offer the ability to use batteries, but I would expect that its range and sensitivity are compromised when compared to DC power.

For the money its not a bad detector. My wife had it in her CR-V and its X-Band is quite good. You can find various posts on the internet and some reviews just look at Google.

I had and Passport 8500 in my Legend but when I bought the TL I decided like you I did not want wires. So I sprang for the Solo 2 which is quite good. I stuck it behind the mirror and its nearly invisable.

Now the wife has the 8500 and the Legend has hers.

Just for the record she got a speeding ticket by PACE so even a detector won't help in those situations. Gotta keep the eyes peeled tool.

.
The Solo 2 also fits perfectly on the driver's side of the window right at the front tint line. The visor even still works and best of all no wires and a quick release so you can take it to other cars..

By advertising to be the 3rd below to me is more of honesty than poor marketing. Yes, you get what you paid for but at least you know were it stands. There are other brands more expensive than this that are rated less than the Sensoro. I do admit that V1 is the best but a bit too expensive for me.

Most of my freeway "close calls" were from CHP that were pacing me and not using a radar. The city I live in used radar all the time and is mostly 30 mph zones on rolling hills. This is were I benefit from my radar.

X-band??? It hasn't been used for many years by any self-respecting police force. It's all about K, Ka and laser these days no matter where you go, unless it's a total Hicksville.

Considering where you live I suppose you need a real good detector to defeat the police detecting you.

In NJ a lot of the local towns still use X. Of course we have K and Ka and even a few laser.

The point is to get a detector that does everything well. Also, since my particular town is mostly 25 mph and enforced having a good x band is still a valuable tool since there is still a lot of x band in use.

The $97. detector is not bad. If you want the best then you can argue over V1 or 8500 which both are excellent.

I would stay away from any $99 radar detector like I stay away from $4000 new cars:

Note that I swear by a V1 (my second as I sold my first with my last car) but have come to learn that driving intelligently and responsibly is the best defense against radar/laser/angry moron cops...

I totally agree but its nice to have a good detector to remind you during those lapses when your enjoying the driving experience but not watching the speedo.
