Selling TL to get CLA 250 coupe

Just spent the last 2 hours reading and looking at pictures of
the new Benz coupe due September . It looks so hot with the sport package
and xenon package for $33k.
I'm seriously considering selling the TL and financing one.
Whats everyone's thoughts on this car

its an entry level car with fwd.
its supposed to combat the a4/tsx/and others in this category.
might be a downgrade from the TL.

save up for the CLA AMG

but hey, we dont know your situation or what you want in a car. if looks and the Merc badge is what you're after...by all means

personally I'm not a fan of MB, but if I was going to get one, I don't think I'd opt for a FWD. It just doesn't seem right to me. I inherently think of RWD and sweet motors when I think of german luxury cars.

I feel where you are coming from though. I just bought a BMW 135i last night, actually, and am considering selling my TL once I get it back from my performance shop from the engine build I'm doing, lol.

I got sick of not having my TL for now going on 10 weeks so I figured it was time to fill the gap with a RWD turbo monster

I would say if you really like that particular MB, just buy it and be happy. I know a lot of people think the BMW 135 is hideous, but I think it looks awesome and that's all that matters because it's my money. Same goes for you.

If performance is what you want, though, I can definitely say that you won't be happy with that CLA 250

^blasphemous!!!!

every one thinks the CLA will be a 135i killer, no, it will not be.
its an entry level car aimed at the a4/tsx crowd.

its the CLA AMG, the one you want.

AMG all the way if possible!! When the time comes to sell my toys and downsize to a single car, i plan on getting a 2011 or newer C63 AMG.. That car's a monster. I almost financed and picked one up before scooping up my TLS. On the C63 - Headers, a tune, & an Xpipe yield alone over 100 additional HP.

^with the CLA AMG being the best, or should I say the most powerful i4-turbo in production, it will be a fucking beast.

the CLA 250 is for young yuppie people who want the Merc Badge but couldnt afford the other cars in MB's lineup, thus why we chose an Acura

I'm more into looks I never push the TL . I love the way
the TL looks it could have came with a 2.4 tsx motor and made no
difference to me. I had my speed days with previous turbo civics and M3's.
I don't really care much about badge never owned
a Benz and never considered one until now mainly cause I'm very attracted
to the design both exterior and interior.

sounds like its the car for you.

as stated early in the thread, what you want in a car may be different than what I want in a car.
Go for it!

I also think they look pretty sharp, I'd like to see one in person even though I don't think I'd ever buy a Mercedes/German car. Since it's the first year maybe do a lease or wait a year or two to see how they're holding up?

I like the CLA but once I choose the options I want, it's pushing $40k, and that's a lot for an slow, entry level, FWD car.

Save your pennies for the AMG version or keep the TL. I won't be buying another car until I can pay for it in cash

even at $33k, it better do a lot of things well.

it better:
-look great
-handle great
- great interior
-great handling
- great acceleration

there's lots of cheaper cars/used cars that meet those requirements without the stigma of the tri-star badge

There's no doubt that the CLA 250 AMG will indeed be a beast... I'm, however, sold on the NA 6.2L V8 that comes with the C63. I really like the pre 2012 front end better than the newer ones.

with 33k, you could get a lightly used e9X M3. just putting it out there.

CLA 45 would be the one to get...

is it me (most likely) but doent the CLA, ILX, Hyundai something, and Kia something all look similar?

as for the CLA itself... what is the interior space like? and from folks who I know who have the 1 series they get it because they want to mod and race on the tracks... not sure if that is the CLA market

I think by unanimous decision; as car enthusiast we all choose the CLA 45 AMG version.

however; if the OP likes the look/design, can afford the car, and doesnt mind the entry level vehicle, he should go for it.

I decided to stick it out with my car. I got a little over-hyped by the styling of this Benz.
I spent over 4k in mods and maintenance in the past 3 months
in this car. I need to get my moneys worth out of it.
Maybe down the line I will get one maybe the AMG.
Surprisingly I still love the looks of the TL even after all these years.

You guys are suggesting a car that is way more expensive that the one he's asking about. Yes the amg version is nice, but it's a lot more expensive than a basic cla250.

It's like someone saying they want to buy a 328 and everyone is saying "buy the M3". You guys know the price difference between those two cars? And not just the Msrp you find online, but real OTD price

we maintained(or at least, I did) the fact that its his decision, ultimately.
he asked for our opinions on the CLA250. As car enthusiast and keeping VALUE in mind, the CLA250 comes underpar.
for the money, it better do A LOT of things well. Alas, its a MB. Value doesnt go hand in hand with MB.

thus, why we chose Acura's. I'm assuming that we hold VALUE at a higher standard than a badge.

he said he could swing the $33k. More power to him! but, would that be the best value for him?

in his last post, he decided to keep the TL.

fwiw, i suggested getting a used one. let the first owner take the hit on the depreciating value.

OP, i'm sure you'll continue to enjoy the TL as much as we do!
