Seat break-in period

Hi there - I have a big a$$ - lol. But seriously - I just got my TL and the seat is really kind of confining for my large frame (large bum). Wondering if anyone else had this problem (or admit it?) and how long it took (if ever) for the seat to break-in and be comfortable???

Be nice!

Thanks,

Jim

I'm bigger myself - 6'1" @ 290 and my arse fits in fine BUT I am already noticing the seat leather "creaseing". Time to treat it I guess lol!. The seat should "open up" for ya after a couple of months of "average" driving based on what I've experienced in the past. Enjoy the car!

Well now I'm a bit concerned cause I'm not quite as big as you guys - it just seems that the sides of the seat (the parts that slope up) are so "stiff" and it really is uncomfortable. I hope it works itself out - otherwise my wife just got herself a new TL.

Guess I'm in the complete opposite situation - I'm thin and light and for some strange reason my drivers seat looks 5 years old! I don't know how my 165 pounds can even make a butt imprint, but it did!

Jim ... Just got my 06 TL a week ago ... kinda feeling the same from my seats that you describe... I'll post after a month to see how they break in.

I was thinking the same. It is a little uncomfortable. The lower section towards the back of the seat is creasing already. I only have little over a 1000 on my odo.

Take the Tushy Test!

Seats can be very subjective. They are mass produced for people where no 2 people are built alike, have the same sensations or seating preferences. Even adjusting the height, tilt and lumbar may not find the ideal position and fit. A person of the same height and weight is likley to still have different measurments.

That said, I am 6'3'' 240# and I actually shift about in the seat on the aggressive turns. Rare indeed! Few cars offer that much hip room. But the TLs seats are a bit firm, which I like, including the side bolsters. And like a mattress, we all prefer different firmness or softness.

Perhaps the next Gen TL will have Sleep Number seats? Oh no...enough sleepers on the roads already!

doesn't the driver's seat have that memory foam stuff that they use in the pillows so it curves to your ass?

I noticed the hardness myself....not filling out seat....but just that it was harder than the GM I came out of....it will all limber up a bit within a month or so.
