Scuffed wheel repair

I scuffed my right rear wheel backing up to a curb. It's a minor scratch and it would probably look fine if I painted it. Does anyone know where I can find paint to match the wheels? Is this something that the dealer could/would repair for a reasonable amount?

If it bothers you that much, take it to a wheel repair shop and they will make it look like new for approximately $50-75. Here in the midwest, we have what's called Mr. Wheel and they do amazing work on badly damaged wheels.

Thanks for the info, guys. It's a pretty minor scuff but it bugs the hell out of me. I probably wouldn't care if not for the fact that I've only had the car for 10 days.

Someone provided this suggestion some time ago on another thread. They suggested using sandpaper (first course lightly and then fine to finish the scratch) and then paint with MDX silver touchup paint. In fact the author of the suggestion indicated that once the sanding was done the you might actually decide that you didn't need the touchup paint.

Im not sure about that Idea since the rims have a clear coat on them for protcection. Once you start sanding it off even though your going to paint it. It might cause you a headache down the road especially if they salt the roads in the winter.

Yes, it can be fixed as good as new. Any reputable wheel repair shop in your city can do it for roughly $50 and you won't even see the damage.

I have used my dremel with a sanding stone to sand or smooth out the scratch - then used the cloth polishing attachment to polish. This really diminishes the look of the scratch, and gets it to a smooth condition so you don't snag your sponge on the rim every time you wash your car. It is worth a try before spending the $$$ for rim repair

The way I'm going to get rid of my rim scratches (on all 4 wheels by now, I'm sure ... I don't check anymore) is to buy some really nice chrome wheels, and then buy tires that are wider than the wheels. I'm going to wait until my current tires wear out first, and just not worry about the existing damage.

I don't know why Acura put wheels on the TL that are wider than the tires so that the rims protect the tires instead of the other way around.

I have scratched three of four rims. This is mostly a result of trying to park too close to the curb in an end spot to stay away from door dings.

In the Baltimore-DC metro area, there is a place called Wheel Doctors outside of Baltimore/Annapolis that is supposed to be very good.

He you guys go... Buy three and sell one to one of the other guys on here. I'll even split them up if I can sell all four at the same time. $125/wheel, $100 for the slightly scuffed one. One has a minor scuff. If these don't sell soon, I'll put them in the attic until winter then try again. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMESE%3AIT

Rim Repair

I was telling my buddy about how my rim got scuffed, and he referred me to this website that guides you through the process on doing it yourself.

I've not actually done it myself, as it seems like a lot of work, but i'm sure some of you wouldn't mind.

ENJOY!
