S2000 vs IS300 and WS6 Trans-am.

Too lazy to type out a story..

S2K vs IS300 (Stock, Auto):

- 40 roll: IS got the jump and I was late to downshift since we didn't honk, I pulled him and put about a bus length between us before I shut down.

- 25 roll: 3 honks, VTAKKK! No competition at all, I shut down way ahead of him.

S2K vs Trans-Am (Unknown mods):

- ~75 roll: Once again, no honks. We just kinda' pulled up next to each other and I heard him downshift so I did the same. I don't think he was giving it the beans though cause we stayed right next to each other till about 110mph. He sounded like a bat outta' hell though lol

Till next time.

Sounds about right with the IS300, they're actually pretty slow.

The WS6 was toying with you. They would probably give a S/C S2000 a run for its money.

Till next time, and I kill an innocent driver while street racing my 4cylinder...

I know what you mean, but saying it this way vs "editing" my post like you did earlier makes a difference. It's hard to dictate someone's tone over the interwebz, I just avoid the e-fighting. lol

I am a fan of the IS300 5MT. My friend used to have the sport version in the gunmetal grey color. It was a fun car to drive and handled very well. Not very fast at full throttle but spunky enough around town. I ate him up many times with the accord in drag racing but he would have no trouble with me in the twisties!

This is the exact engine we built in my friend's garage. Let's just say it's a Supra in dif. form.

If it was an LT1 WS6 TA, I could definitely see how the S2000 could stay close. On paper, they were 14.2-14.5@97-101mph cars and a bit porkier than the Z28 and Firebird of that time.

Really? I was unaware there was an LT1 version of the WS6.

A street drag in an S is just dumb. We aren't set up to win a power race. Take them to your local track, or an autox, and you will then hand them both their @$$ with a bow on it. Bonus is that it is in a safe environment.
The S is a momentum car that is meant to take corners quickly, not a power car. You are putting down <200hp to the wheels in your AP1, I am about 210 in my AP2 and it makes no sense to drag the car.

Stepping off the soapbox

Yep, in 1996 the WS6 verisons of the TA and Firebird debuted. Same with the SS Z28. All cars had 305hp vs the 285hp of the "base" cars. The power difference between the WS6/SS models was a less restrictive faux ramair system and lower restriction catback exhaust.

Maybe that's what it was, I'm not really too familiar with older domestics so you'll have to be a little lenient with me. lol. All I know is that he sounded like he was on it for sure and I just barely had a fender on him by the time we shut down.

Maybe he was really going WOT. He was the one that instigated it.

I do see where you're coming from because the S is built for corners but from experience now I can tell you that it can definitely hold it's own in the straights. I'm enjoying the hell out of it right now and like Rockstar said - "cars are built to the owner's preference..."

That makes no sense. an AP1 with an exhaust has almost no difference from what was delivered from the factory. So the car was built to the engineer/designer's preference.

I think he means that the owner of the car will drive the car however he/she wants regardless of what it was "meant" for.

Case and point - Moms trying to race me in mini-vans and SUV's. lol. I'm not even joking.

I have a 98 ws6 and yes he was toying with you unless you're turbo'd and was running at full boost at 75.
