Running a little behind schedule on my 105k service....

So I have an 08 Type-S with 115k and I'm yet to do the 105k service. I know i'm on borrowed time and I plan on doing it as soon as I get the extra funds. I am a little concerned however that my luck may not make it for another 2 months (5k miles or so). What is the likelihood of my timing belt breaking in the next 5k miles and my engine being ruined? Unfortunately due to some unforeseen circumstances with my finances I need to put off certain projects. I plan on doing t-belt/serpentine, spark plugs, axles, and trans fluid.

About 50% chance it will break and 50% chance it won't break.

Don't fix what's not broken. IMO the 105k mark it's just a guide. If you baby your car and drive it normal, I'm pretty sure the belt can last past 150k. Tls aren't race cars, it's not like we launch these cars and do massive burnouts that will stress the t belt. You'll be fine. My cuz 04 tl is closing in on the 110k mark and he ain't even tripping about the 105k maint. Just do it when you have time in the near future, you got plenty of time so don't stress about it.

You should be fine. However, get it done as soon as you can.

I've been told by a couple of mechanics (one was a Honda tech) is that once you get past 120k miles on a timing belt you're living on borrowed time.

I did the first timing belt at 179k. They can last some time. Maybe I was just lucky.

I was told by a Honda tech and a Honda service advisor that if the A/C compressor clutch goes bad, the whole compressor has to be replaced because it's all one unit..

I was told that if go past 10,000 miles without doing an oil change you need to replace the engine with a new one or another used one that has never gone over the maintenance minder before because your engine is bad now.

Youll probably be alright. Just start saving now and get it done when you can. Trans fluid and spark plugs are really easy. I wouldn't pay for that service if you have access to someone's garage with jack stands. I personally am not brave enough to tackle a timing belt.

Like these guys said you'll probably be fine but get it done as soon as you can. I have an 03 CL-S and when I did my 105 service on the difference was noticeable.

I'm going through the same thing. They say 105k miles OR 7 years. This is what makes me more concerned...

Know any good mechanics in the Chicago area who wants a side job?
