The RR Journals: Decent foglight match

I was looking for a better match for the HID's for the fogs, and went with the Sylvania SilverStar 9006. It is much closer to the HID's than the "Old Yeller" OE bulbs, is rated at 55w and is compatible with the stock wiring system. It is also DOT-apoproved, so there should be no hassles with State inspections - I had the PIAA's in my Outback rejected once because they "did not match the headlights", even though state code did not require it, and the OE bulbs did not match the OE headlights either. But arguing with some techies is like talking differential equations to a carrot - a waste of time. I went and bought the cheapest bulbs I could find, switched them out, passsed, then swapped them out in the parking lot of the dealer just to make a point.

I really think Silverstars are the whitest, brightest bulbs you can get without upgrading to HIDs. It seems many people agree. Glad to hear they're a good match.

Where can I buy these bulbs? At any auto parts store? Thanks.

I've heard reports that they don't last long though, which wouldn't be a big deal for me since I don't use my fogs often, but it might be a big deal for others.

I've seen them at Walmart and Pep Boys. A lot of auto part stores carry them, but not all. Just give a call to a few local places and i'm sure you'll find someone that carries them.

Advance had them, but I was in no rush so I bought them from autoanything.com

Don't see why they would not last - they are made by Osram in the good ol' USA - a worldwide leader in lighting systems. As someone else stated, I hardly ever use them either - can't stand folks who feel compelled to have fog lights on when it is bone dry.
