On the road - Type S(s)

When I'm out driving, I see many TLs, but I don't see many Type S(s). Yesterday was a unique day, I saw 2 and both of them were Carbon Bronze.

I've seen a few CBPs TL-Ss ... but very very very few.

The most popular TL-S in my area would probably be WDP, looks real hot in that color.

I've seen a few. Couple WDP, one SSM, one NBP.

TL's? I bet if I took a 5-mile loop around the area, I could count 6 - 10 by the time I got home. They're everywhere.

I think I've read speculation that the TL-S is ~10% of total annual TL/TL-S Production (2007 & 2008 only). Assuming ~70,000 cars per year for the past 4 1/2 years, that'd be ~300,000 TL's and 10,000 TL-S or about 3% of total 3G production.

IOW - about 1 of every 35 TL's you see should be a TL-S.

I don't seem any TL's around my area when I drive my TL-S. I think I have only seen one or two other TL-S's when I was driving my TL-S. There is no Acura dealership near me.

When I drive my Subaru, I see a TON of other TL's. It is almost like there is a caravan to a meet somewhere. Still not many TL-S's.

If I head west of Boston, I see a ton of TL's in both flavors. When I'm in New Hampshire, people oogle over my car like it's a Lamborghini because they have never seen a TL-S up there.

Though out of all of those, I have only seen one other MRP

Who is Mike?

Was that other MRP just a normal TL? There is one other I see around. I think he's in the Quincy area.

There's not alot of Type S TL's here in KC either, which I think is good. It's fun having a "special automobile"-at least I consider it special. I did have one weird experience though. I was in a Walgreen's one night and came of the store to find another Type S sitting right next to mine....Same year and same color (ASM).

Plus, where I work, there are four TL's in the parking lot, but none are a Type S. The ironic thing is that my best friend works at the same place I do. He has a regular TL. He always parks his waaaay far away from other cars to avoid door dings, etc. He was always encouraging me to do the same-even before I owned a TL. In fact, he also pushed me to get a TL myself because the car I had before this was 10 years old. Besides, he said that chicks dig them (TL's) !! Well, now that I do have a Type S, I do park waaay far away, where he suggested. But he doesn't park his TL out there anymore. It's really weird-especially because he encouraged me to do so. Maybe it's "Type S envy" ????

There's 3 TL-Ss within a 2 block radius from my house. One of which is the Business Manager from my dealership which is how I got hooked on the TL-S in the first place...saw it every night as I walked the neighbourhood after dinner.

However, in Canada we only get four colours for the TL-S - NBP, WDP, KBP, ASM. I see more WDP and ASM more than any other colour.

I'd love to see a CBP or PMM in person....those colours look sharp with the TL-S wheels.

You guys are still buddies right? LMAO ... don't let a car turn you two against each other bro ....

I tried to talk one of my friends into buying a type-s but he wind up getting a ES350 ... very roomy indeed & very quite ... but nothing comes close to type-s (comp. equi. Lexus or Infinity) ... he has a 02 TL and doesn't want to have 2 TL under the same roof .....

I see so many TL's in LA, but barely ever any TL-S's.

Hey, it makes me feel special.

Thanks guys...and yes, we are still friends. It's just one of those things that you notice and/or observe about your buddy, but you never speak up about. I think he's alittle jealous about my Type S because his TL doesn't have the acceleration and the stiffer ride or the ammenities of the Type S. When his lease is up in April, he says he's going to turn it in and buy an Cadillac CTS-V. He loves the horsepower!

I was next to an '08 CBP TL-S at a light today while in my '07 CBP TL-S. That being said, I don't see too many TL-S's around, but am always surprised how many '07+ TL's I see on the road in the Atlanta area compared to 04-06 models. Seems like BMW, Caddy, Infiniti, and Lexus pushing out new models in the same year did wonders for hooking up Acura with bargain hunters.
