Road rage drunk guy backs into my TL *Video*

The other thing is, I don't understand whats taking them so long! Those dealer plates, the rover. I'm sure the rover is being repaired locally. And I'm also sure the dealer knew who had the truck out that night.
His insurance will cover, that dealer if they don't fess up to the driver will have to pay for the repairs under their insurance. I just hope they can pull the drivers info. This repair should never cost this guy nothing ever.. I hope he can get the driver and press charges.
I would totally rape this guy in court if found that's for sure.

I will probably piss some people off with this post, but......
OP, great job staying calm. I read the posts in this thread where people would have "beat the shit out of the guy" or "shot him with my glock"! If anyone really thinks they could have gone vigilante on this guy and not paid the price with jail time, you should not be owning a gun. This is the shit that really worries me sometimes with people having guns at their disposal. I don't know any state (or jury) that would find you justified in hurting or killing someone for ramming their car into yours, intentional or not!
Hope he is brought to justice OP!

That's cool of you to offer the guy something generous like that. Good to see people in the community offering to help out in a time of need. The thing is, his insurance will cover this no doubt.

Being as I do paint and body work on the side from my home shop, I have NONE of the overhead that large body shops do. I can offer the equivalent or even a superior product in 1/4 the time for half the price or less. Bring your check to me and leave with a repaired car and money in your pocket!!

I am also a handgun carrying (legally) American. Just ignore all the previous posts about shooting the guy. These are just words written by insecure men trying to make it appear that they have a larger penis that they actually do....

Let's be honest here, the other driver will just get a "leaving the scene of an accident" ticket, that's all. I'm sure he was drunk but it's too late for that now. He'll hire a lawyer & have his wife come to court as a witness & testify on his behalf. His lawyer will come up with some BS story. There were no injuries so he'll get off free & clear. Justice? It doesn't exist.

I get what your saying, but he ran into him on purpose and tried to do it again.. Id be willing to bet he will get a little more than just leaving the scene of an accident.
Sure they can't get him for drinking and driving, but they could tack on a few extra charges other than leaving the scene.
I just hope the OP get's his ride fixed back.

You get award for most composure FOR SURE I would have LOST it haha. A+ to you, but major wack job, glad you were able to take one for the team and somewhat get him off the road, even though he got away, you kept him kind of away from hurting other motorists.

I understand but let's be real here, as far as the police are concerned it's just an accident, their position is that nobody was injured and insurance will pay for it. The other driver will say he's diabetic or something health related. If he was injured then that would be different. I just don't think the police will pursue it too far, not with murderers, rapists etc on the loose. Infact I bet the boys & girls in blue are laughing about this incident, prosecutors are up to their eyeballs in crime cases, they don't want to get bogged down with this.
I'm not trying to deter him, just seeing it from experience.

I actually figured he would get charged with hit and run. It clearly shows it in the video. Whether the DA ends up keeping that charge or lowering it is up to them, but backing up into someone on an off ramp is hardly an accident. Not to mention the dude swerving at him later on. I doubt he meant to hit him, but he probably did because he was drunk. If he had been caught that night then I'm pretty sure he would have gotten what he deserved.

Wow thats messed up. The only thing that might not help the situation is people with dealer plates usually have connections at the dealership- obviously... so this might be the son of one of the owners or something. In that case his dad will cover him and they will take the RR to some repair shop and get it fixed off the books... If you know which dealership the RR came from you can go up to it and try to do some undercover intel like finding the owners name and see if they have a kid named Tyler or something... I dont know, just a suggestion. Hopefully the cops already have the fucker caught

UPDATE:
The detective went to the car dealership and a manager was pointed out as the one who had been driving the vehicle. He admitted to the hit and run and got to take a ride for it. His name is "Tyler", the name that can be heard by the female in the vehicle. At this point, the detective is going to look at my car and probably only use the leaving the scene of an accident charge. Truthfully, that is ok with me because if he is charged with the assault, it becomes an intentional act and the insurance company doesn't have to pay for it.

Thanks for the update. Glad he got caught. Kind of ridiculous it was the manager of the dealership.... What an idiot.
But I agree with you. As long as you get the car fixed, everything will be fine. Hopefully the guy learned his lesson because he could be going for a lot more if he was caught since he was most likely drunk.

Someone should call the dealer and ask to speak to "RoadRage Tyler"

I'm an attorney. In fact, I'm a patent attorney, so I'm an engineer who happens to have a law degree. I say all this as background for saying that I'm not the litigious type. But man, this whole situation is setting off all sorts of bells and whistles in my head. This is assault and battery with a deadly weapon. I wouldn't let him get off with a misdemeanor "fleeing" charge.
My own personal recommendation is to at least have a conversation with an attorney. This guy needs a greater deterrent to doing this kind of thing again.
