I have figured it out! You were comparing the G35 to the TSX the whole time. I would have thought that someone with your extensive knowledge of both automobiles would have not overlooked something like a hood prop since you spent so much time with both of them before buying.
Go back and test drive a TL, that's TL, "Tom Lincoln" spelled phonetically. Ask the salesman to point one out for you so you don't get confused this time.

This G35/6 speed produced 227 peak rear wheel HP - with a K&N filter; that is certainly NO MORE than 275 peak SAE NET flywheel HP. Neither the Z nor the G are "under-rated."
http://forums.freshalloy.com/ubbthre...b=5&o=&fpart=1
This little number was TRULY under-rated. It was rated @ 305 SAE NET HP @ the flywheel and made darn near that much at THE REAR WHEELS:
http://www.ericohlsen.com/FBODY/CamaroDyno.jpg
I own a '99; 350Zs vanish in my rear-view @ my whim - regardless of how hard the 350Z driver is running it.

Well the Sedan dynos the same as well, and its around 270~ then.

I'd be spending time on G35/Nissan websites if I had a G35.

The various 3.5 liter Nissan engines are HONESTLY rated, at least in terms of HP. And it's HP that accelerates the car from any given vehicle speed.
The Altima makes ~ 201 drivewheel (on a chassis dyno) and the G35 and 350Z makes ~ 230 drive wheel HP.
Those figures compare quite well with the published manufacturer's SAE NET HP claims (@ the flywheel).

Interesting articles. I just looked at the Dyno's for the 2nd Gen AEM TL intake and all equations hold true so I guess AEM is not messing with the numbers, but then we knew that.

And "gearing" has very little impact on trap speed through the 1/4 mile...

If they don't say then it's probably something ridiculous (like sea level, 50 degree F and 0 humidity).
SAE NET HP/Torque figures are corrected to realistic standards.
Many aftermarket parts manufactures publish dyno curves results that were corrected to ridiculous standards in a (legal) attempt to show how effective their parts are @ making more power.

But a 2 MPH delta can more easily be attributable to the differences in atmospheric conditions/testing methods on different days/with different drivers as well as production tolerance issues between the different cars.

TQ is where everyone drives in. HP is for top end mainly. TQ is what gets us going. TQ is what wins races, not HP.

Basic physics explains why that is so.
I'm certain that your vast level of knowledge in that field can refute this basic equation:
Velocity = Acceleration * Time
A car with more aggressive gearing yields a higher average rate of acceleration over a fixed distance (in this case, 1,320 feet).
That reduces the ET (Time)
The same car, fitted with less aggressive gearing, will yield a slower average rate of acceleration over that same distance.
That increases ET (time)
Either way, the end result (trap speed or velocity) is very similar.
Simple translations:
Lowering the axle ratio by 10% means that the car in question will shift into the next highest gear @ ~ 10% less speed. While it will accelerate faster (assuming good traction), trap speed will remain ESSENTIALLY unchanged.

I have no idea why some of us are even going there with trap speed like they even have seen a track let alont taken their sedan there. 99.9% of us don't even go there (I do).

And I thought that SOME people on an automotive forum might find it interesting that trap speed is relatively unaffected by gearing choices (as opposed to ET, which is far more impacted by gearing).
Should I clear future posts to get your approval of content prior to posting them?

SilverBS,
Instead of spouting BS as usual, go back and read the articles Harddrivin attached. They do have merit. Horsepower has the time variable factored in. Torque without Hp is nothing.

Yawn, more BS from you as usual and the other guy. Seems to me your not makign many friends on this site.
At least ALMOST everything I have posted I have backed up with reliable source of information unlike you.

Man! took me a long time to read everything here..........
SilverBS.....man you are making trouble again?
WARNING!!!! OPINION!!!!!
I think people who bought G35 S got the short end of the stick. I would have bought G35 Coupe if the performance mattered that much. I mean losing the "look" is bad enough....you lose the beautiful rear end and the dual exhust and what do you get? a second best G35......the only way anyone can justify their purchase is to knock on its competitor......
If I wanted a performance RWD car-------G35 Coupe....it looks like a performance car.....and its worth every dime.
If I wanted a performance with 4 doors.....well, you guys know what I did......get the TL. \
i know, i know.....its just my opinion....I can't seem to get over the major exterior diff between the sedan and the coupe....i saw a sedan the other day......its rear is......well.....the exhust and the rear lights......why not pay a little more for the real mccoy?
Just thought I would share this with my TLers.......IT IS....OUR FORUM.

A performance 4 door is not a FWD car. BMW, G35 Sedan are. LOL what do you lose in the Sedan?! Please tell me. Besides the 4 door looks NOTHING! The sedan is just as good as the Coupe and JUST AS FAST.
LOL you guys are just here to hate the G35. I can't believe this. That no one here thinks the G35 either the coupe or sedan are a great, nice looking car! Why not accept it guys! You just all seem to cut down on the G35, err most of you seem too, the ones who aren't are the ones who seem more open.

Yea I am going to sit and look under the hood for a long time. I also didn't open the hood, the sales guy did so he was holding it and I wasn't paying attention to the struts or not.
Anyways, its kinda funny though. In my opinion the struts on the G35 TRUNK are more useful there than on the hood. What do you open more, your trunk or the hood. (trunk). Acura must have went CHEAP to just not add those. The G35 has em.
Oh and look at the pages and pages of complaints about the TL. But then hardly anything except maybe the seats for the G35. WOW! I must have made a bad decision.

I like the G35 looks. My opinion, and I am free to say it. So does alot of the reviews.
