Rerouting the handbrake
Hypothetically speaking, is it possible to reroute the handbrake to a foot brake?
Since the brake is just a cable, I don't see why you couldn't extend the cable and bolt in a 2nd gen foot brake....a little plastic work and now you have extra space. I don't view the e-brake to be a critical part of the car anyway. Since I always have an auto tranny, I barely use it...and if I do it's just when working on the car or parking on a steep hill. |
it's alot of (unnecessary) work the mounting isn't as easy as putting a pedal in after resolving the difficulties with that, you have to deal with how you're going to cover up the hole where teh OEM E-Brake handle once was... more trouble it can be done with time and money but is a hand brake really that bad? |
Yeah like lew said... it can be done... but time and money is a factor... But it's not that bad having a hand brake, heck many people seem to have been wanting a hand brake instead of a foot brake... They finally got their wish...

i agree^.... the hand brake is alot mor fun in the winter than the foot brake tooo! :D

The foot brake on my Dad's '03 TL reminds me of a Buick. He said that is his only complaint with that car... I'm glad I have a normal hand brake. A foot brake is so... un-Honda.

They're letting us deal with a stupid looking handbrake now. |
Just a guess but perhaps they put it on the "wrong" side so it wouldn't interfere with the driver's leg.

I did not get the G2 TL because of the lack of the handbrake...

Originally posted by SwampGas But it's on the wrong side of the car. Why the hell is it on the PASSENGER side? They must have gotten tired of the handbrake being on the opposite side in countries that the drivers seat is on the right. They're letting us deal with a stupid looking handbrake now. |
