Replaced the rear speakers
I had the rear deck rattle, so I decided to pull the seats and remove the rattle by adding a little felt.
Once I removed the deck, I noticed that Acura had forgotten to install two of the trim clips that hold the deck down at the rear, additionally, I noticed that the rear speakers looked really "economical" the only thing missing was the paper cones. I proceeded to remove one of them and found out it's only a 20 W 2 ohm resistance speaker.
If I have my math right the sound system was supposed to be 250W
four speaker at 20W each is 80W. The center speaker and the tweeters in the dashboard cannot contribute more than another 20. I can tell you the subwoofer is not 150W
Talk about going cheap!!! 20W at 2 ohms.
Anyway, I replaced them with a set of Infinity Reference two way speakers with a separate crossover. Although the new speakers are 4 ohm the system sounds much much better.
Future Project Replace the sub, the rest of the speakers and possibly the amp.
I don't like banging sound I just like good quality sound.

It never fails that a stock stereo system in most cars is really the most cheaply made, even if the company has a great reputation.
In the old days when you could buy a car without a stereo as an option, that's exactly what I did. I'd take the savings, buy a 10X better system, and have money left over. No such option seems to exist, so we are stuck with what they provide in the cost of the car.

rkillian,
Thanks. Would you (or anyone else) happen to know what size the tweeters are?
