removing the rearview mirror

how do i remove the rearview mirror off on an 05 TL? my friend needs to hang something on there but the loop is too small thanks

EDIT:
Its a bit harder than I orignally thought. You have to take apart the moon roof console (homelink buttons) and then disassemble the mount from there down.

Maybe you would be better off cutting the loop and then gluing or tying it back together?

CSM- is it like the gen2???
- there is a good DIY in that gen, since they have the exploding mirrors and many had to replace- 20 minute job
Involves the same dismantle of map lights-garage door button panel (2 screws) and bulbs,, then you are down to the real parts

The trick on them is a metal tab that locks the mirror arm in place to the main bracket
Use a dentist pick type tool- or a super thin screwdriver to ease in between the metal parts and release that lock,
then the assembly slides down towards the dash to remove
Do NOT wiggle it...or you MAY crack a $350 glass
