Removing rear seats! Someone with a service manual please help! (3GTL Garage# F-067)

Hey I was wondering if any of you fellow members could be a peach and scan the page that shows how to remove the back seats. Im trying to get some power to my PC for a trial run of my car-puter. I want to try it myself first because the guy that installed my other stuff is too expensive for me on the labor part. So i wanna give it a shot. Anybody willing to this favor for me??? Youd be my Hero

Have fun getting bolt 'A' back in. An alignment tool was a big help when I did mine.

Why don't you just buy your own copy of the service manual since you're getting so invloved taking things apart?

I did.

More like 2,000 pages. That would take a lot of hosting.

if someone does have a place to host, why dont we gather everyone up that has service manuals and assign a chapter to each person. i know everyone else has better stuff to do , but it would be nice. i was thinking of doing the whole thing myself, it was a thought, until it arrived in front of my door and i realized how big it was. because the pages are thin and i wanna keep a copy on my computer in case some pages gets ripped out

edit: its prob not a good idea if theres copyright problems and helm finds out the manual was online. then there would be no more acura-tl.com, but if thats not the case, im up for some scanning

With so many fax-to-computer systems out there, I don't think it'd be too difficult to dissassemble the manual by chapter and fax to one of those numbers. That way it'll be automatically converted to TIF for you (or PDF, like mine does).

What kind of alignment tool? Is this pretty hard to do? I know some people said it was abig hassle when they installed their springs cuz they had to remove the rear seats. About how long does this take? Im hoping less than an hour to remove the seats. WHat would be the hard part in removing/reinstalling? thanks!

He's right - I had a HARDDDDD time getting that last bolt back in. It's so hard trying to align it right so it actually goes in. I can't remember what I had to do, but I was sitting in the backseat for a good 25 minutes or so before I could get it in. Not to mention it was freezing in the garage when I worked on it, and my entire body ached from the awkward positions.

Is it harder than getting the license plate light back into place after changing the LED? that spent me about 30 min doing it. The second time I did it, I got it down in 20! woohoO!

Copyright is held by Honda.

Helm distributes (also probably prints) the manuals, the copyright is held by Honda Motor Co. Ltd. Put the manual up on line and expect a C&D order to be delivered from Honda.

Even the scans in this thread are violating the copyrights without permission from Honda to reproduce the pages.

It's like a tapered punch. You can get one at Sears or most any tool store. It will allow you to poke between the bracket in the seat and the hole in the floor and pry/position them just right for the bolt to go in. It took about 15 minutes of fussing to get mine in and I'm generally pretty good at such tasks.

Tip

Hey guys...here's a tip if you don't already know...I've removed my rear seats to install my springs, and came across a hard time putting Bolt "A" back in place ( assuming bolt "A" is the one that goes by the headrest ). Anyways, what you can do is, screw the bolt into the holes BEFORE putting the seat on, don't screw it all the way in, just get it threaded...Next, all you have to do is lift the seat up, put it to the back dash, and slide down into place...simply stick a number 10 socket in through the seat and tighten into place!

Perfectly aligned and saves some time! I'm pretty sure, thats how acura intended for it to be re-installed!

If done right, it should only take you less than 5 mins to put the complete back seat back into your car!

<< You really dont have to remove those 2 screws in the first place, just loosen up and then slide seatback upwards, comes right out >>

GOODLUCK! HOPE I HELPED!

I can not for the life of me figure out where the "C" bolts are on my car, can't get the back portion of the seat off. I was able to run the cable I needed by just removing the bottom portion of the seat but now i'm curious.

Can someone help?

Remove the headrests. Go thru the overlapping flaps of leather. In there you will find the bolts.

Quick ignorant question guys. The $69 service manual from Helm is the 2000-page FULL Acura TL manual?

So there's 2 different manuals? A full 2000 page thin manual and a electrical manual?

Correct. The 2004 service manual is approximately 2,159 pages. I say approximately because they are not numbered consecutively and I had to count each chapter.

Also, there is a difference between the 2004 and the 2005 service manual. I don't know what has been changed, but they aren't the same. Probably won't make a difference for casual use though.

The electrical manual is separate. The price for the 2004 manual was $47.00, but I don't have a price for the 2005 yet.

For the lower u-shaped mechanism that holds the seats down, push down on each seat and the tounge mechanism will come out easily.

You've gotta be careful with the clips for the lower cushions. Mine broke when when the seat was removed. It comes back on fine but doesn't "click" back in.

This happened to me too. What to do? I can't seem to get the click to snap back in to the hook.

Another rear seat removal question: I can't seem to get that bolt "A" out - in the passenger side slit by the seat belt buckle. My 16mm socket is definitely not the right fit - any tips?

http://www./howto/tl/lowering/tl_low...gs_install.php

According to that article ( with great pics of bolt locations for rear seat removal) they are 10mm. I used another size, I can confirm when I get back to my garage.
