Removing front license plate bracket

I'm taking delivery on my new 04 TL 6MT w/Navi next Thursday. I originally ordered an Anthracite/Ebony model on 12/31/03, however the dealer withheld that they only place orders every month on the 20th. I found this out on the 16th of this month and demanded that he locate what I wanted.

Luckily he found one in NJ and so I had to compromise and take a Silver/Ebony model (which was perfectly fine as well). However since the car was from NJ, they have both a front and back license plate. Here in PA we do not. The NJ dealer took the liberty of installing the front license plate bracket.

Does anyone know if this can be safely removed without leaving holes in the front bumper? I really don’t want to drive around with it on if I don’t need it.

Thanks - G.

The license plate frame will be attached via two screws. If you ask for them, the dealer should give you two color-matched snap-on covers to cover the screw holes.

Ask your dealer to check that the plugs are still in the car (glove compartment, trunk, anywhere). When I removed my dealer plates I couldn't find the plugs. Upon asking the dealer for them they admitted they threw them away. Now I have to wait until they receive another car matching mine so they can pull them off that car.

Thanks for your help everyone. I kind of figured (hoping!) that there was some sort of plug. I called the dealer and left a message for the General Manager asking him if they could remove it and make it "stock" again.

Kona, just curious - did the dealer order you the replacement plugs. If so are they charging you?

Thanks.

If they try to charge you, tell them where they can stick it, and call /Acura Corporate Customer Service and report them. Usually, just threaten to do that will shake some sense into them due to it not being worth it to them. They should have supplied them from the beginning, so for them to try and charge you now would be absurd.

Z,

I agree. And those plugs are one of my priorities before I sign paperwork.

Thanks, G.

No, I did not have to pay but it did take weekly phone calls to remind them. It was one of several reasons I did not give all 5's on my survey. Finally I got them after going into the dealership and demanding them.

I removed mine. I asked my dealer to locate the hole plugs since they did not keep mine when they pre-installed the front plate holder. I guess they pulled a set from another car since my dealer always installs the front plates.

Just picked mine up this weekend. I asked that they take them off a recently delivered silver car and they gave them to me. It looks great without them.
