Recommended battery for TL?
Hi guys, I was on vacation last week from last Wednesday to Yesterday. I parked my car on the street and It wouldn't start when i got back and tried to take her out for a ride yesterday. Is it normal since its been a week or my car battery is dying slowly. And What's the best brand battery out there for our TL? I dont mind paying premium price just want something durable and won't over heated. Thanks alot

When I need battery replacement, I plan on going to Walmart. They have the exact group size (24F), in the EverStart and Champion brand names. Both brands are actually highly rated. I think it is about $90 for the EverStart with free installation. One possible downside is that you will probably need to enter your radio/navi security codes. If you don't want to deal with that, go to the Stealership, they'll take care of it without you having to deal with it.
In the past, I went to the Stealership, and they charged me about $175. The Acura OEM batteries are crap. The 1st Acura OEM battery lasted only 35 months. The 2nd Acura OEM battery lasted 37 months. I am just going to assume that my current Acura OEM battery is going to die at around 36 months.

IMHO Optima quality has dropped in recent years, I had a yellow top fail quickly. I'd go based off of warranty unless you're running a crazy stereo or looking for a lightweight one. Most brands are made Johnson Controls, so IMHO it's not worth the premium, get whatever store brand that will be easy to replace. I've had good luck with Autocraft Titanium from Advance Auto, if you pay online and pick up they almost always have a 15% off code too so it's about $100 with 3 years free replacement.

I've had two dealer batteries fail in three years. Whatever generic battery Autozone has worked since (almost five years).
I plan on adding a stereo system and will (try to) go with an Interstate Platinum. I originally was looking into a Yellow Top, but heard that they have strayed from the original design and quality was now poor. From what I understand, the Interstate Platinum was from the same design, but stayed faithful to the standard.

I would say that it is probably the best mod i did to my car, i couldnt belive what difference a really good battery could make. I had surging problems and such in hot weather and everything was solved by removing the garbage of a optima yellow top and putting in the DIe Hard Platinum. Yes it is very expensive but worth every penny !!

In my '03, I have an older blue top optima that I got used. That battery is still running strong after 3 years of me using it. I work at a battery store (not Sears) and can confirm that Optima's quality has indeed dropped since they moved manufacturing facilities. I have heard nothing but good things about the Diehard Platinum line so I would recommend you try it.

I've always had excellent service with Interstate batterys, many people around here
like the Duralast Gold from Autozone. My family members have never had much luck
with Walmart batterys (never got even 2 yrs service from them.)

Normally I wouldn't risk making a blanket statement but with the sheer number of Optimas I've had to prematurely replace, the insanely short runtime with the engine off, going completely dead over night only to never hold a charge again, and with all of the reports on the internet, don't ever buy an Optima. I would buy any $70 battery before I would buy an Optima. I had one many, many years ago in the GN that went 7 years and was still going when I took it out but those days are long gone. Optima is over priced and over hyped.
The best battery I've ever owned by a long shot is the Diehard Platinum. It does everything the Optima claims to do. With a 4 year free replacement warranty and pro-rated after that, chances are slim to none that you will ever have to buy another battery. The runtime exceeds the rating. I drive the car very short trips and with the Optima I would have to take a 1 hour trip once a week to charge it or the car would barely start. I've gone a month with nothing more than a 5 minute trip and it's never cranked over even a little slow. This is a re-branded Odyssey battery which sells for $100 more than the same one with the Diehard sticker on it.
Always had good luck with all of Sears' Diehards but the Platinum is the only AGM battery they sell.

Autozone service for batteries is great. I just recently had a duralast gold replaced after 2 years. At my last inspection, the shop indicated that the battery was weak. Drove to Autozone, they confirmed, checked the warranty and put a new one in. 5 minutes later, I was on the road again.

I work at advance auto, if you get the Gold battery it come with 3 years free replacement and 84 months prorated, Optima batteries aren't good anymore, i just replaced a yellow top on my maxima that it was less than a year old and this was my third optima in less than 3 years

My Stock battery just died...2 months short of the 100 month warranty
Just replaced it with a Costco one and it's great! $68.00 plus a $9.00 core charge. Try it!

Just replaced my battery with a Costco Kirkland Group 24F. Group 35 seems to be their more popular size, as there was significantly more shelf space allocated to that size. The Group 24F was at the bottom of the shelf, and there were very few of them. Anyways, the Group 35 battery was $73.99, and the Group 24F battery was $78.99. Add to that price the tax, and a $9 refundable core deposit.
One thing to note: the OEM Acura battery vent caps are recessed into the battery, while the Kirkland Group 24F vent caps are not, and protrude out at the top of the battery. It did not affect the installation, everything still fit, but the bracket to hold the battery now clamps down on those vent caps, instead of clamping down at the edge of the battery as on the OEM Acura battery. Not a big deal, everything fit, the battery cover still fit, no problem.
Didn't bother with any sort of memory saver while the battery was disconnected, so I had to enter the NAVI and radio code afterwards. No big deal, just enter the NAVI code and it reboots. Enter the radio code, and we are done! The only thing that I lost was the "A" and "B" trip odometer, and the average mileage setting. Everything else remained...Driver 1 and Driver 2 memory settings, HFL, etc.
Overall, simple to do, no problem!
