Is this reasonable?
Hey guys, im going for tint next monday the 24th, im all kinds of excited for it
. I set up the appointment and when I go down there are a few things that i wanna make sure to tell them to do. First off I am gonna tell them to make sure they take off the 3rd brake light cover and tint the ENTIRE back window. Second im wanna make sure they tint the entire back windows, the little ones that are part of the back windows. And lastly I want the windshield tinted LIGHTLY, whats a good percentage to have that done? And I plan on doing 15% all around and whatever percentage you guys say would be good for the windshield.

The only thing remotely legal about your plans might be 15% on the rear window.

Each time I buy a car I always go limo tint @ 5% and the last car (2004 Cobra) I had the front windshield tinted. It’s a special tint they use( carbon fiber material), it looks as if there is no tint because it’s almost clear, however it does block a lot of the sun UV rays etc. After the front windshield getting tinted, the car never ever got as hot as it used to. (Parked at same spot/work each day)
Limo tint is illegal and depending on where you live, they may give you crap about it…. Lucky for me, I’m in Florida and the cops around here don’t enforce it as much……. Only bad thing is, I think it gives them an excuse to pull you over……

OP, what color is your interior?
I have 15% tint all around and it doesn't look that dark because of my camel interior. I plan to put tint on the front as well, maybe 30-35%.

I have 25% tint (in MD), and I have to admit I wish it were slightly darker. I love the 25% but I think I would go crazy for 20%. But there's no way I would go darker than 20... Sometimes I feel uncomfortable with the 25% (backing up, passing cops, etc...). I have the tan interior too... and it does make a difference.
I'm not sure how I feel about tinting the windshield. It definitely seems appealing, but I feel like if you went dark enough to make it worth it then it would be WAY too dark. I probably would opt not to. In my opinion, if you go for ~20% all the way around and make sure they do a quality job (DEFINITELY get them to do the ENTIRE quarter windows) then you will be very, very happy.

Remember that ANY tint over and above the factory tint is illegal in PA. The law states that 70% is legal, which means no tint. There is some discrepancy as to how the law is worded, but the last thing you want to do is get into an argument with a State Trooper over niceties of law on the side of the Interstate at midnight.
Also note that PA has a Medical Waiver for tint---if you can get a doctor to certify a need for window tints, you can apply for the waiver. This does not prevent said State Trooper from pulling you over at midnight for you to show him the waiver.
You saw my car the other week. I have 35% all around and nothing on the windshield.

Yea I already know about getting that installed, its an extra 20 bucks, no big deal. And they give me a lifetime warrenty on it so if they need to pull it and it damages the defrosters they will pay to fix it. Im gonna go with 15% all around, DWB what do you need to tell a doctor to get the tint waver? Ill look into that

As I see it, you have a few options:
1) You can do like I did---get skin cancer, have it removed and ask the doc for a letter stating that you need tint on the windows. I know, maybe not the best solution for you.
2) Offer to slip the doc $20 or so for said letter. This solution probably will work better with the guy doing your yearly inspection, although the law states the inspection station cannot fail you for tints alone in PA.
3) A third option I was considering (before I was so conveniently diagnosed with skin cancer) was a combination of the above 2 solutions, with the exception that you approach your eye doctor for the letter.
Until I see the actual waiver form, I cannot make a recommendation on any of my solutions. However, I suggest you avoid option #1.

5% on all but the front, its illegal in all states just depends on if the cops in your area inforce that law or not! Its a non moving voilation that will be a fine if you get a ticket. Dark tint makes car look so much better.

Or just turn on your cabin lights at night (when you see the cap).
Just a warning; Don't argue with them, in MD most troopers carry light meters. I know a few people that pulled over and ordered to have tint removed after the cap put a meter to the windows. the worst thing is that most cars already have a tint on the windows 95%, even if you put legal (35% in MD) the light meter will say 30% and cap will order you to pull the tint off.

^true story...
Drove up to the casino last Friday and was pulled over.
I was told from my tinter that it was 18% all around but the troopers gun read 14% F/R.
He let me go for the no front license plate but no budging on the tint.
