Rear vents not working

Has anybody had problems with their rear vents (the ones behind the center console)? With the heat on, I can't feel any air blowing from them. The dealer said the air flow would be light. Just wanted to see if anyone could save me a trip to the dealer.

When the heater is on and the A/C is set to Auto, the air flow is directed downward, so you will not feel much air coming out of either the front vents or the rear vents. There is a duct under each seat which carries the heater air to the rear of the car.

If you want air to come out of the vents behind the arm rest, you will have to use the Mode button to change the setting manually.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I just dealt with this issue today. I'm at a client upstate, and it seemed like my rear vents were not working (when my passenger complained). I had the heat in "Auto" for a while, then I had it on "defrost" mode hitting the windshield. When I changed the modes to direct it at the passengers straight on (arrow pointing at the passenger), air began to circulate more noticeably out of the rear vents.

In this case, the answer could not be obtained by since there is nothing in the manual which exactly describes the condition being asked about.

It does not say that when you put the A/C on in AUTO mode, which is what most of us do, that the air will be directed downwards if the temperature selected is higher than the current temperature in the vehicle. This would cause a person who is accustomed to the air coming from certain vents when cooling was called for to wonder why the air was not coming from those vents when heating was called for and the A/C was still in auto mode.

If the answer is provided in the manual, it is written in such an obtuse manner that the average person would have trouble deducing that it was actually the answer to his problem.
